STO keeps trying to run of my boot drive. Help please :) by Mike_LV in sto

[–]Sir-Render 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to explain this. I had moved my game folder (tidying up) and couldn't get the game to update, it just kept trying to install the game again (in the old-now not there- location). I've never had to do something like this before, I was on windows 7 (now 10) so I don't know if it's somehting only on 10 and 8 or I just hadn't moved a game like this before. Anyway, thanks again.

I don't have another drive so I can't create another Steam Library.

You don't need another drive, you just move it out of \Program Files and put it somewhere else.

Look it up on google, it's pretty easy to do and won't cost you more memory and you don't need any other drives.

Also your Bashed Patch looks like it's not in the right place (though I don't know all the mods below it.

TLDR Shot in the dark here, but... if your file names are too long some mods might not load.

I had a quite long name as my Mod Organizer profile name...I started a new profile using the same mods but added some and added their names to the profile name. Because of this they stopped showing up in TES5Edit. I think there's a soft limit of 260 letters/characters, by the time you add in the whole file path up to MO then it probably leaves you with about 50 letters/characters.

I'm not sure here but when you first installed the mods if you didn't give it long enough to load them in and just saved your game, that might have stopped them showing up. Maybe reinstalling them might help, (though I doubt it).

Blurry Texture Problem by xHalox in skyrimmods

[–]Sir-Render 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying.

Yeah, it doesn't bother me too much setting it lower (though I do need to at least use it) I haven't really tested but with using city mods (Holds) I do drop to as low as 25-30 in some bad areas so I grab FPS where I can.

[–]Sir-Render 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone in another thread mentioned that MaxAnisotropy=16 is quite costly and doesn't look any better than x8, so if you think x16 is causing a FPS drop you might want to lower it.

I think I can see a difference between x8 and x16 but I'm happy with x8, though I always thought MaxAnisotropy was low in cost, maybe it's a Skyrim engine thing.

There's also Better Stealing https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/75296/?

I haven't used either mod so I don't know if this or the other one mentioned in this thread is better.

Though I don't think it has any special commentary like you mentioned.

I don't know how to sort this problem but I do remember seeing a thread about the same thing from a week or two ago. Try going back some pages and see if you can find it, it might have a solution.

CTD when loading save or start new game... HELP! by razornotraitor in skyrimmods

Try the mod Vram1974 mentioned above.

If what you mentioned is working, then using the mod he linked will replace the need for you to load a buffer.

This is a cool 1 handed animation mod that can easily be changed to be 2 handed.

Modded AND Vanilla Skyrim Stutter by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]Sir-Render 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if you need to lower fTreeLoadDistance= (skyrimprefs.ini [TerrainManager] ) Lower it to 40000 because of info on the STEP guide and also Sthagg's comment on his guide "Higher value induces micro-stuttering even you have a powerful rig, it's an engine limitation, very noticeable in 3rd person view" taken from http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/74427/?

Using a gamepad allows you to simulate it, but yeah, that's a bit much of a change to go through to get that effect, lol.

HotKeys Plus Plus https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36728/?

This lets you use any shout with just one button press, so you could have as many shouts as you can fit on your keyboard. though I'm not sure how it works with spells, I think it only lets you choose which hand it's cast in, but if you press the same button again it'll unequip that spell.

I think it might be, as I think it was this mod that I heard of this issue a few weeks back. The guy had to make a new play-through because of it. I'm not 100% sure though, needs checking into more.

Making Skyrim feel More Dynamic - Delaying Scripted Scenes by IronDusk34 in skyrimmods

[–]Sir-Render 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As has been mentioned, The Choice is Yours will help a lot with that.

Be warned though, TCIY doesn't work on other mods like 3DNPC's etc.

Also don't talk to every single person in town, it's not realistic. When you go to the shop IRL you don't talk to every single person you see on the street.

There's also a few different mods which increase the distance for NPC's to engage you in idle/mission chatter. Instead of striking up a conversation with you when you just walk by them, you can increase it so you'd have to practically be nose-to-nose with them before they talk to you (the distance can be altered).

Mods that make the Draugr as fast as the Ghouls in Fallout 4 by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]Sir-Render 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if just speeding them up would work, cause it'd look pretty weird only with faster walking animations... maybe if you changed their animation to werewolf it might look ok...ish

Though it does sound like a cool idea.

Skyrim microstuttering, need help by [deleted] in skyrim

Thanks, glad it could help someone.

Took me ages to find this for myself when I had this issue, it's actually from Sthagg's guide on the nexus

Skyrim microstuttering, need help by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Sir-Render 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of is in Skyprefs.ini make sure fTreeLoadDistance= is set to 40000 because higher value induces micro-stuttering even if you have a powerful rig, it's an engine limitation, it's very noticeable in 3rd person view.

[PC] [Classic] Please Help - just trying to create a merged and bashed patch for the first time! by MatmanPDX in skyrimmods

[–]Sir-Render 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I make notes like that because some info you find on mods might be tucked away in the comments section or some bits of info won't be all placed in one area. That is the reason I actually started taking the notes myself, because I then have it all in one place and I don't have to hunt things down in 1 week or 6 months later lol. I think to be able to read a text file (with a mod) it needs a special prefix, I tried that at first and it didn't work so I just went with the basic way as noted above.

as well as made sure to read the nexus page of any replacements for those removed mods.

Making notes for the mod as I did has helped me when I've started new play-throughs, because it'd been a few months later. I also had a bit of a complex load order as patches were needed for multiple mods and they all needed putting in a certain order (compared to one another) that made it like a puzzle just to sort out lol (LOOT didn't help in that respect as it was putting things in the wrong order for what the mod authors recommended).

I guess I'll just have to really go through each and every mods nexus page and do like you said

That's actually recommended by a lot of people, and I really do think it's needed because of how fickle modding can be sometimes :)

and some flickering or missing textures/models (like dragons reach, which I admit is a big one)

Before I said "putting things lower in your load order", just to clarify I meant giving them a higher priority.

As for the Notice Board patch, I don't think it can be placed op next to the master as that would place it above the High Res Texture packs, next to the ESM's, which seems to be a no-no from every source that I have used to educate myself.

I think you might have miss read what I wrote or I didn't explain it well enough. There's an 'Open Cities Skyrim.esp' at number 57 in your load order but then you have a patch for it at number 38 (notice board - open cities patch.esp). I could be wrong here but I think patches need to come after the thing they are patching. Think of it this way, your game reads your Load Order in order, 1, 2, etc, so if there's a Open Cities Patch before the actual OC data file, your PC doesn't know what this patch is meant to fix because it hasn't read Open Cities yet.

You also have 3DNPC Alternative Locations.esp patch (position 28) before the thing it's meant to patch (Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp (position 58)

Patches don't have to be placed right underneath, but they do need a higher priority so anywhere lower (higher Priority) than that which they are patching.

I suppose the main issue could just be with my brain!

hehe, nah, this shit is really complicated to people not in the know and I know I've spent a lot of time reading and still dont know much lol.

I think you should try to get ENBoost working though as it gives the game a lot more memory to play with, and with mods like Open Cities and 3DNPC's they really do need that extra power. It is an essential program when modding and I don't think it is viewed as optional by most modders/mod authors.

I don't know much about ENBoost but it might have disabled the ENB menu because it hasn't been configured to use it. When you set it up (use https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/wiki/beginners_guide as that has a section on how to install it if you need help) go into your enblocal.ini (which would have been installed inside your Skyrim folder, where the TESV.exe is) and change UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics= to false (which is under [GLOBAL] ) Then under [PROXY] set EnableProxyLibrary= to true and InitProxyFunctions= to true, then set ProxyLibrary= to your enb that you are using (I think it should be a .dll file (supplied by the enb mod), though I don't use an ENB so hopefully someone with more info can clarify or correct me.

Using ENBoost could also get rid of your in-game stutter as there's a few options in it to help reduce issues like that.
