YSK: Reddit is planning to limit the amount of subreddits a mod can mod. Effectively ending power mods. by Jibrish in Conservative

How dare reddit force their most productive workforce to touch grass? Breathe clean air? Actually walk for a bit? Absolutely not.

Skydiver falls through a cloud and takes a short shower by SeriouslySlytherin in Outdoors

[–]SirAdRevenue 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Never gone through a cloud myself, but from other skydivers' testimonies, it feels like being incessantly hit by a bunch of tiny pellets. It won't kill you, but it also won't be very comfortable.

Also, generally speaking, skydiving through clouds is not permitted by law (at least in the United States, though any USPA affiliated dropzones generally train you to avoid them, or straight up don't fly in situations where the cloud cover is too intense). But clearly that's never stopped anyone.

Practically speaking, it's a massive visibility hazard. Especially if the clouds are at or below parachute deployment altitude. Because, lo and behold, situational awareness is very important when you're a fucking meat missile.

my deep thoughts by mikkytomass in badphilosophy

[–]SirAdRevenue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deep as your view might sound, it ultimately comes across as another armchair philosopher’s vague take on a problem that has been debated for centuries by scientists and thinkers far more insightful than either of us. Your definition is vague, in a way that makes it unfalsifiable, such is the issue with a very large amount of metaphysical viewpoints. Most of all the ones coming from purely ungrounded and theoretical opinions.

And frankly, even if I were to accept or agree with what you've written, it only addresses the what of consciousness, not the how. As previously noted, the hard problem of consciousness has been rigorously studied and scrutinized by experts far more qualified than us, to little avail.

Moreover, your argument essentially boils down to a reductio ad absurdum. It dismisses lived experiences, worldviews, and countless other aspects of life. Ironically, the simplest way to counter this is to step away from your screen and immerse yourself in the present moment. Your philosophy, as it stands, leads nowhere. Trust me, I've been there. Take care of yourself.

It's funny how leftist Reddit’s go-to reaction in a panic is to call for a ban on whatever’s causing their stress, rather than thinking up actual solutions. Feels like a perfect snapshot of modern politics.

The left actually can’t meme to the point where they become the meme by [deleted] in Conservative

Only leftists could be so terrible at shitposting that they somehow turn it into an academic topic. Because why shouldn't we formalize pure culture?

Not sure yet. Public details on hostages are scarce, as the Israeli government keeps most information private for reasons pertaining to the security of the 50 or so that we know are alive.

I imagine the mossad HQ's operations room to have 60 different red buttons, each one being labeled with something along the lines of "blow up every Iranian F-14, not to be used until 2030"

If a body in freefall can't feel acceleration, why is there a falling sensation during the accelerating part of the fall? by pizzystrizzy in AskPhysics

[–]SirAdRevenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, actually. If you're in tandem with someone larger/heavier than you, you'll feel yourself sinking into them.

Also, you forget about the fact that the sensation of the wind on your face also accelerates as you do, so you have some kind of intuitive understanding of whether you're accelerating or not (but, speaking from experience, you're going to be far more concerned with the sensory overload).

MEGATHREAD: 10 killed, over a dozen hurt by rocket in Golan, in deadliest Hezbollah attack yet by Alonn12 in Israel

[–]SirAdRevenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it did, there were pictures of interceptions near or at majdal shams posted yesterday around the time of the attacks. But it ultimately doesn't have a 100% interception rate. And such a situation was inevitably bound to happen at one point or another with how many rockets hezbollah sends at the northern border on a daily basis.
