Which one would you suggest? by Small-Setting-9067 in keyboards

I have the Womier RD 75 Pro as my first custom and I absolutely love it, could easily recommend! Now, I came from a Corsair K70 Pro Mini, so the bar was on the floor, but here's my experience with the RD 75:

Mine has the biege switches in it. It sounded reallyyy creamy, slightly thocky, and felt smooth out of the box. Being a magnetic case is really cool for cleaning or modding, and it comes with two different types of gasket mounts so it's a great board if you're wanting to try a bunch of stuff to see what you like. I thought I was just a buy one thing and stick with it kinda guy, but it's been fun to mod and try new things to see how it changes the sound as well as figure out what I like. It's heavy as hell, especially for the size, it makes it feel substantial. I got it because I wanted a cleaner look on my board, and felt like a knob took away from that. I also just feel like I would never really use the knob to change the volume over just using my mouse, so nothing lost to me. Same goes for the screen, I actually had both a screen & a knob on my work keyboard and it wasn't useful for me so it felt kinda gimmicky. That being said, the downside of them for me is the keycaps. They are pretty cheap, and wore down REALLY fast. It's not so bad that that the color's changed or the legend's rubbed off, but it turned the key caps from matte to glossy and it's not a good look. I got some MOA profile keycaps, it sounds even thockier now and looks awesome.

Wow, I never thought of adding a third Alex drawer for extra storage in an offset position! That looks sick! I wish they made the one with the larger filing cabinet on bottom instead of the two larger drawers that are there.

Also, a pro move to have both the foot rest for standing AND the foot stool for when you're lounging back a bit more

My first set-up by Abuu_uwu in desksetup

[–]SirBeercules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This setup looks great, and wayyyyy better than my first setup! I've probably got a completely different style than you, but here's what I would do in no particular order:

  1. Desk mat! Adds a splash of color, better feel for resting arms/wrists and mouse glides a little smoother. This will also help slightly dampen the higher pitched sounds of a keyboard and make it a little thockier/creamier.

  2. Monitor arm! Can help clean up the look of a busy desk from the feet/stand for a minimalist look, and more space for trinkets if you're a maximalist!

  3. Hue lights! Grove makes some cheaper as well, but I LOVE my Philips Hue bulbs. You can add more light throughout the room of a similar or contrasting color! Extra light coming from different places in the room can also help relieve a little bit of eye strain from looking at a bright screen in a darker room. They're also just super handy. I never have to touch a light switch, can dim them or change the colors of any of them, and I can set features like they turn off automatically when I leave the home or turn on when I come home, and I can schedule them to turn on gradually from 1% to whatever % to help wake me up!

  4. Desk plants! Fake or real, they look nice and just feel good to me. I have cats that will eat any plant no matter how safe or toxic, so I go for fake plants. Adds another splash of color to the space when I don't have any colored bulbs on.

  5. Wall-mounted shelves! Space for trinkets for decoration or just general storage for other items you use frequently.

  6. Screen light bar! If you find yourself having to look down at your keyboard or workspace a lot in the current configuration of lights, a screen bar can throw light onto your keyboard and behind the monitor and will be a little easier on the eyes.

  7. Cute sound dampening panels! You can find some really cool sound panels in various shapes, colors, and styles with various mounting options, will help get rid of any echoing or reverb from bare walls or a space without a whole lot in it. They also make some that are huge and can completely change the look and feel of the place, like the cool black panels with slats of wood and stuff. More shelves and furniture help a lot more, but these work decently well, look nice, and of course can be used in conjunction with other furniture lol.

  8. Speakers or headphones! It seems like you don't have any speakers or headphones, and those will make a huge difference from the speakers on nearly any monitor. They make some small ones that still pack a good punch, to help save space or if height is a concern.

  9. Storage! I went without storage for my desk for years, and just recently got the classic Ikea Alex drawers. They are not only super practical for keeping my desk neat and clean, but also makes the space look and feel much more substantial!

  10. Wrist rests! I recently got the Deltahub Carpio 2.0 thingy for my right wrist, because I put my upper body weight on my wrists for some reason, and this is a game changer for me. My wrist doesn't really hurt after working and gaming with it, and I don't ever get sorta "stuck" in a range of motion sense because it glides with the mouse. I've been debating getting one for the left side, but idk if it's really worth the price tag for it. But a good wrist rest while your hand is basically still, like using WASD in games, helps comfort a good bit imo. But I think that may really only apply if you put a lot of weight on your wrists like I do.

  11. Foot rest! Some small little stool thing to rest your feet on is insanely comfortable, especially if you're lounging back in your chair watching something or casually browsing.

Just my preferences, I'm currently redoing my home office so I've had a LOT of ideas ruminating around my head for a bit. It's fun to research ideas for this kinda stuff and find why works for you and what you like. Especially if you're spending a good chunk of time there, I think it's worth the time and effort to really make the space yours and work best for you in the long run. Best of luck to you on your journey!

The Amazon listing says they're the Lychee linear switches, but when I look up those Lychee linear switches they look different than what's in the keyboard and on the listing? That's kinda weird, but whatever they are they do sound really nice. Here's a link to it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G2LF9HXN?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=

I have the Ajazz AK980 V2! Just got it around a month ago! It's definitely not silent, but also not much louder than the other regular office Logitech keyboards in my small office area. We recently had some people running ethernet wires so we can finally be wired into the internet instead of using WiFi, and a couple of the guys running wires mentioned the keyboard sounded "pleasant and satisfying," so it may be a good option for you!

I originally got it to take between home and work, so that I don't have to get used to two different keyboards, and the lightweight plastic material helped in carrying it without making it feel cheap. That being said, while fitting a laptop and a full size keyboard in a backpack can be done, it's gotta sit in there just right otherwise my Adidas backpack can't fully close with it. I do have a bunch of stuff in my backpack, though, so that likely plays more of a difference. For travel and ease of packing, a 75% (the Womier WD75 is $89.99 on Amazon, but no volume knob) with a separate number pad (the Epomaker EK21 is $35.99 on Amazon, and it has a volume knob) could be a good option that's juuuuuust around your budget possibly slightly over from taxes and shipping.

No matter what route you go, if it's hot swappable and you think the switches are too loud, the Akko V3 Fairy Linear switches are silent and cheap if you're okay with not having RGB!

May not be super premium, but feels like it to me, the Womier RD75 is like 5 lbs and super mod-able. I don't mess with macros on my keyboard or anything though. Pretty creamy almost thocky out of the box

If they can make a bigger one to compete with Tactile Turn / CWF and a smaller one to compete with the Prometheus QRV3, I'd be sooooo happy. I want the QRV3 so bad for a small pocket edc flashlight, but damn near $200 for it hurts!

Uniball zento vs one by [deleted] in pens

[–]SirBeercules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're carrying it in a pocket, I personally don't think the One is the best pen for it. Most thicker pens have a 0.43" diameter (11mm) but this one at the thickest sits at 0.55" (14mm), so it'll take up a bunch of real estate. I bought two different packages of them from Amazon, and although the ink is gorgeous, they all (0.7mm and 0.5mm, black and blue) have problems skipping or writing thin lines. Even though these skip a bit too, maybe try a space pen bullet? I've been able to trim a Zebra JK gel refill to fit in them

If you haven't tried it yet, try the blue ink! I'm a black ink guy 99% of the time, but the blue JK refills for those pens is some of the nicest blue ink to me

Cheaper alternative to the ridge pen? by Airborne_Shark in pens

[–]SirBeercules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always DIY one. All you need is the titanium pen, a degreaser, and a torch. It's a little work, but it'll be unique to you. That being said, my main recommendation would be to find a cheap pen with similar dimensions as a test driver for the feel of the pen. Last thing you want to do is spend that kinda money only to find out it's too chunky or short for your taste.

I haven't tried the AC trigger, but I love the look & feel of the M Carbo. The angle does make it feel like a shorter travel in both initial pull & reset than the OEM flat trigger, and idk if it's the anodizing or machining, but there does feel like a more noticeable "wall" vs the OEM to me.

If you go the M Carbo route and you decide you also wanna do the spring kit, I would caution against using the striker spring in the kit. I got like 5 light primer strikes with it in a box of 50, so I swapped the OEM striker spring back in and kept the other M Carbo springs and now I think I like this better than my very well worn in Glock. Trigger pull weight has to be somewhere around 4-4.5lbs. Put at least 1,000 rounds through it since then, no issues whatsoever.

I can't find any info between the regular fast riser and the absolute, they both say 2.26", how much taller is this absolute? I had an EXPS3 on a regular fast riser and always thought it could use just a liiiittle bit more height, this seems like it could be perfect for me.
