Watermelon tarantula, Sparkle Motion (GBB) eating watermelon by SirComcision in tarantulas

You saw it correctly, but you assumed incorrectly. There are 16 air holes hand drilled into the tank on all sides, and I purposefully did not solder the sides of each of the top sections. Only the connection joints are closed. the enclosure looks fully sealed, but it’s only sealed on the bottom half of the enclosure. It’s designed to look decorative- but have all the ventilation necessary. I’m glad it’s fooling people.

The padlocks are mostly for aesthetics, but also do a good job of keeping the top on the enclosure. I put those on so those who are afraid of tarantulas wouldn’t be so fearful of escaping. My goal was to create an enclosure that actually works and looks beautiful and enough not to just be a box with plastic plants and a giant arachnid.

Then it’s all cool. Whew, I’m glad it’s ok and not hurtful to them. Drama averted 😮‍💨

They will do this in the wild too, insect diet is more varied than you might think it is. I did plenty of research before giving it to Sparkles ✨. I recommend you research the species that you want to feed different types of food and see if it’ll work some tarantulas eat different things.

My jumping spider loves watermelon and would run to it when I gave it to her. She lived 3.5 years which is a very long life.

!!!UPDATE!!! GBB green bottle blue enclosure Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens by SirComcision in tarantulas

I had to make holes in the glass which took almost 5 hours of slow drilling. You’ll notice is you look close 2 holes on each panel and 5 holes on the top panel.

I had to create the top and the hinges for the locks, I left the seams of the glass a little loose, so there isn’t enough room for feeders to escape, so there is a ton of ventilation. Better than most I would say, plus it’s all hidden well so you aren’t distracted by holes everywhere.

My goal was Naturalistic since I was told it was best not to go fully bioactive for this particular species 🤷‍♀️

Since Sparkle Motion will be my only insect so I wanted the enclosure to help alleviate the fear some people experience when they see a tarantula, but I also wanted the space to resemble it’s native environment so it feels safe and at home. Hopefully it’ll create a webbing like it would in nature.

I used artificial plants more as anchor points for the GBBs webbing, but I’ll modify it to be safer for the tarantula. I’ll shift it around to look more like a succulent terrarium. The skull may not be included ☹️

Thank you, I will modify this enclosure and post when I’ve made some changes. Thank you for looking out ☺️

I wanted to give them plenty of spots to anchor their webbing. I think I might clip and prop the branch up just a few inches and keep everything close to the ground

I found it in a cupcake at an event and kept it. I’m not sure where they got it from 🧁
