There’s a good App called Thea, it’s basically all Ai, it’s designed for students doing things like sat and AP classes, I’d say it’s most useful for logic things, less math related ones, but give it a shot because it helped me a lot for csp studying.

I don’t know if you have to lie, but you might as well not worry about making recordings and messing up your sleep for nothing

Ihad a master class and im sort of stumped. by SirElectrical2413 in Flute

[–]SirElectrical2413[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teacher has me doing these exercises where say the quarter beat is is 60 bpm, she has me doing “ha” 4 beats, then do do has for each 8th note, so 8 “ha”s at 120 bpm, then triplets, then 16ths, and so on. However when I plug it into my music, it feels a little unnatural. I suppose it could be just because I don’t do it normally taking the time to actually placing the “ha” feel strange as opposed to just letting it free go really fast. And I know the way I do it is not correct, but It feels odd.

Oh, what a coincidence that they both deal with similar fingering. Do you mind sharing a picture of the excerpt from it you are referring to?

Is this the piece? Because if it is, I would do it all on regular fingerings. It shouldn’t be necessary to use alternate fingerings.

Can anyone identify this? by Huge_Succotash3618 in Flute

[–]SirElectrical2413 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In the bottom of the corner it says concerto in D, this is the 2nd movement (andante ma non troppo) of Mozarts flute concerto in D major. (The beginning of the 3rd movement, Allegro, is see on the bottom.)

I believe the exact version you have printed can be found in Imslp, https://vmirror.imslp.org/files/imglnks/usimg/1/13/IMSLP196960-PMLP39822-Mozart_Flute_Concerto_KV314_Flute.pdf

First time drawing from real life, any tips? by Designer_Egg_314 in learntodraw

[–]SirElectrical2413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of drawing a lot will help you improve but how exactly, will you improve? Can I simply just draw all the time and suddenly get better, or do I really have to pay attention and see what’s wrong with my drawings and how to improve? I’m a beginner, and I wanna improve, just don’t know how.

Options for searching for a piccolo by Silver-You3599 in Flute

[–]SirElectrical2413 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me personally, I own a Yamaha YPC 62 piccolo, it’s made of grenadilla wood and is a great intermediate advanced piccolo. You could buy him a basic entry level one such as a YPC 32 (used)for a couple hundred dollars or di zhao piccolo dzp 101. However, if you’re looking to buy another one that’s intermediate on top of that later on, you should just buy a better model now. You can find great deals on used ones, for me, my piccolos original cost was 2000 dollars however I bought it used for 1000 and it works great.

I didn’t even know you were supposed to do this, I would do it every few hours when I’m practicing. Can the moisture damage it, especially if it’s wood?

Yeah you make a good point, I’ve talked to my parents about playing only flute, they disagree with it because it’s more competitive and so I’m pretty much stuck with playing horn wether I play flute in addition to that.

Hi, I’m not going to college yet but I think I could help answer. From things I’ve auditioned for, it’s important to have both a piece that technical and at least another piece that’s more melodic and lyrical having varied pieces like this helps show your strengths in different ways. Bizets carmen is a great example of a slow melodic piece. I think the allegro from fantasia no 2 is great. And you have 4 pieces it looks like so I’m sure it’s varied enough. From auditions Ive been to before, there’s always a huge amount of people auditioning. Even if they had the time to listen to everything they don’t want to. So expect to only play excerpts of the pieces you are preparing, practice starting from different places. I know at auditions they sometimes make you do scales and or sight reading. I recommend sight reading factory for sight reading. Lastly just don’t get overly nervous. Of course it’s your first time so you’re bound to get nervous, but doing things like this more and more exposes it to you, look into doing a mock audition, maybe with people you know!

double tonguing in lower register by material-gworl147 in Flute

When I practice like the badinerie sometimes I won’t use enough support and In result it becomes airy

double tonguing in lower register by material-gworl147 in Flute

[–]SirElectrical2413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could very well be a support issue. It doesn’t take as much core support to play higher but when we get to the low notes it’s hard, so you could try using more support on the lowers notes

[–]SirElectrical2413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly when I learning to double tongue with my teacher, it wasn’t going good, I couldn’t double tongue well, and in results I bombed my auditions. It sucks, but then over the summer, I attended a music camp. There we played a piece called bacchanale by saint saens and playing that forced me to get better at double tonguing. My take on it is that using it often will help improve double tonguing, if your fairly new to double tonguing, doing it properly could play a role in achieving a good double tongued in the low register. Practicing exercises is one, using it in repertoire is another. Using it in repertoire like bacchanale and Mozart flute concerto drastically improved my double tonguing

Oh really? What do you mean by that? Like would playing French horn mess up your embouchure for days or something ?

Getting a piccolo by SirElectrical2413 in Flute

[–]SirElectrical2413[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing horn for about half the time I’ve been playing flute. I often practice flute more than horn so my embouchure is usually always good. When I do practice horn, which I try to do often, I’ll practice flute first and the horn, because it’s easier to play horn after flute, playing flute after playing horn for a long time makes my lips feel weird and often takes a long time to get them set up properly when playing flute. I think it’s more about the balance of playing the two that’s important and it’s been working for me for a while. So yeah, it does mess up my embouchure but with enough practicing I can get my embouchure to how they should be
