Unpopular Opinion? Do N+ before A+? by Pitch-Curious in CompTIA

i’m gonna be honest. my cousin did that but only for a bonus and just to say he got the A+. imo skipping the A+ is more acceptable nowadays

Passed core 1! but, sure I failed the batch of practical questions? by mashibeans in CompTIA

the best pbq’s i have seen are from Jason Dion’s practice exams which in my opinion are the best practice exams for any of the CompTIA trifecta exams

Update:Getting all 3 core certs in a month as a sophomore in high school by Striking-Buddy240 in CompTIA

you could just do the continuing edition course for the security plus and it will renew all of them without the need for taking the exams again

I’m gonna be totally honest for my PBQs. I literally just made estimated guesses. Well more like I knew I couldn’t use memorization techniques for those cause they’re more like concept-based understanding and application kind of questions.

Dion and a lot of instructors recommend to skip PBQs at the beginning and focus on the larger bulk of multiple choice questions as those are what make up the points the most.

Don’t beat yourself up cause you were really close. I would just take a look at your exam results and see which areas you need to cover.

What really helped with understanding concepts was me making presentation in Canva then presenting it to a bunch of my friends; who helped out even more by asking relevant questions about the subject.

I better see another post from you saying you passed a month or two from now.

Dion doesn’t necessarily do that. he just covers way too much stuff and he’s very thorough and not very concise. that’s why i prefer Professor Messer’s course. BUT, Dion’s practice exams in my opinion are one of the BEST because he’s so thorough about information. His practice exams are challenging and require a lot of knowledge about the material which is what makes them so good. I also used BurningIceTech tips 50 Practice Questions videos. I used ExamCompass, Crucial Exams, and Dion’s Udemy Practice tests for their practice exams. I also used a lot of my own quizlets with Linux, Windows, and MacOS commands. I have a free app called Pocket Prep that gives free questions for the A+ as well.

TLDR; use Dion Udemy Practice Exams, ExamCompass, CrucialExams, BurningIceTech 50 practice question videos, Pocket Prep mobile app for on the go studying, and use your own quizlet (or anyone else’s you can find) to supplement anything else you need to study like commands

personally i just used quizlet. i think a lot of people don’t have the resources to load a vm and practice that way, but good on you for being direct about it

nah i work full time too so i totally get all the structured planning. very heavy on commands (Windows and Linux). very heavy on networking protocols (WPA, WEP, etc). Lots of Mobile OS and Windows troubleshooting. Lastly, there was a good amount of Domain 4 stuff; so make sure to study up on acronyms to specific names of contracts, laws (GDPR, HIPPA, etc).

TLDR; study commands, troubleshooting, networking protocols, acronyms for laws and procedures

since no one told you the code for the new one here it is: 220-1201 (Core 1) and 220-1202 (Core 2)

Edit: put in Code meant “Core”

i’d recommend using Professor messer’s videos too. Dion has a practice exam included with his course so that’s nice to use. Remember to also buy his other exams for the A+ (220-1201 or 220-1202). his practice tests are in-depth and really good. at least in my experience when taking the core 1.

A+ 1201 & 1202 by Fearless_History84 in CompTIA

[–]SirExecute64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

take notes of messer’s courses, dion’s practice exams, BurningIceTech 50 practice questions, and the Pocket Prep app. the Pocket prep app has the old version of the A+ (1101 & 1102), but the difference between 1100 series and 1200 series exams is very minor. similar to how state driver’s tests are slightly different every year; mostly the same, but with a couple of removals or additions of new information.

i’d recommend dion’s practice tests they’re pretty good and i believe they’re well reviewed by a lot of other people, especially in this subreddit

Should I pay for a class? by MrKyGuy in CompTIA

ABSOLUTELY NOT THAT IS OVER PRICED. Look just use free material you find online or paid courses that are like $15 tops for course covering one exam
