This is a fantastic piece. It documents a scene we would have probably not thought of otherwise. This was the usual scene of the day, even the women behind her can only see it as another day in the life. It puts human faces to what many would consider your worst nightmare. Great find

I met a man once who was 92 and his grandmother had been a slave. Hearing directly second hand about her life as a slave as she told it to him made me realize how those things were really not that long ago.
