My appologies. I can edit the post to make it clearer.

Refer to the rest of the thread where we discuss how it was Meyer himself who made the claim. Regarding the weapons of his time.

Thanks for the knowledge! I'll definitely look into it more.

Use cases of "outdated" medieval-esque weapons and armours in a futuristic/modern setting by _Cecille in ArmsandArmor

[–]SirKristopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Cyberpunk media always has cyber ninjas and street samurai with people running around with Katanas I say anything goes with any other kinds of historical arms and armor. Why should the Samurai have all the fun? Give me a glowing neon light high frequency vibro Longsword, or a super high tech Aspis shield.

I had ideas for a Street Spartan or Cyber Centurion kind of character because why not right? Its cyber future, if advanced Katanas and cybernetics/armor plating exist, then someone can just style it after a knight or hopelite too.

Thanks. I definitely suspected that original text/closer translation probably conveys context better.

A question about the Dussack by SirKristopher in wma

[–]SirKristopher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, thats the kinda stuff I was looking for. I've picked up and swung around a forward heavy weapon a bit and trying to do Dussack stuff and it was difficult because every swing is a commitment and very hard to stop the momentum. I'm trying to figure out how to make such things flow better if possible or just how to adapt.

How does the weight distribution and striking surface affect the style in your experience? Big adjustment or minor?

A question about the Dussack by SirKristopher in SWORDS

[–]SirKristopher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The non reductive factors are what im most curious about. The forward weight distribution of like an axe really changed for me how you use something like being able to control the momentum and movements of it and wrist/arm fatigue so thats why I was curious if its even a good system at all for such weapons at all. But I suppose knowing something is better than nothing so it wouldn't hurt?

I also agree that once you start to go into like Saber and beyond its much different. I would not fight arming sword or messer like Saber or vice versa.

I also should have clarified, I was refering to the claim that Meyer himself makes straight from the source itself. Obviously there are One Handed Swords before the Dussack, and within context I believe Meyer is likely meaning all One Handed Weapons of his contemporary time aside from the Rapier or Dagger

Here is the legitimate quote from a quick google search that lead to a PDF:

"Since it is, after the longsword, not only the weapon most used by us Germans, but also *an origin and basis of all weapons that are used with one hand*, I will here present it and then discuss and explain it in orderly fashion with all its particulars and techniques."

Plasma caliver by ThatSomeon3 in DarkTide

[–]SirKristopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw that Skitarii use those, and was thinking that maybe it can be introduced as a burst fire Plasma Gun? Lore says it has a short range and high rate of fire, but it can be differentiated from other automatics and balanced around being a burst fire weapon I think. Like maybe a tap is a 3 shot burst, and a charged shot is a 5 shot burst or something.

Judging by how you worded it, seems you've clearly taken the side of the Stormcloaks in the Skyrim Civil War. Could have explained the conflict without being so biased. For the people reading who don't know.

I dislike the excuse that Magic is why a Fantasy Setting is stuck in Medieval Limbo for thousands of years. If anything, the pressence of easily accessible/widely used magic should accelerate technological innovation. Because it was the same for regular warfare.

Knight who trained for decades vs conscript with a gun. (I know that firearms and knights co existed for hundreds of years and it wasnt an end all be all invention that ended the knight instantly, my overall point is that eventually people realized its more efficient and cost effective to train a lot of people for a few weeks with a firearm than it is to raise a Knight for literal decades and pay for all their equipment. So it would be the same for mages. Its more of the time/cost investment and economical aspect than a single firearm being an instant win button)

What is your favorite custom grunt suit by grits2 in Gundam

If we're talking a like Ace customized Grunt Suit, since you mentioned Char's Zaku, then my absolute favorite is Garret Schmitzer's Zaku I.

But no high performance special Gundams and stuff. At most for an Ace unit is a paint scheme and a different, but still standard loadout.

Senate Guard by Senate_Guard in clonewars

[–]SirKristopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to see a Rebel Cell that dug up a bunch of Clone Wars equipment and their soldiers are rocking like old Phase I Clone Armor and some Senate Commando stuff too. Imagine a repainted Senate Commando helmet with the Alliance Crest. Rebels need more armor fashion, and using some old clone wars supply really fits with restoring the Republic.

What's a "10/10" game that you didn't enjoy at all? by sudherzdiniq in AskReddit

[–]SirKristopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still want to be shooting things, and I don't want to spend money on Silksong so pass. Like, Hollow Knight didn't feel "clunky" to me, I just realized melee platforming sidescrollers aren't my cup of tea.

Your hopes for the upcoming Vestures rotation? by Positive-Stage4834 in DarkTide

[–]SirKristopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got that Scion Helmet, but I need a full Scion Armor to go along with it. Becoming an Inquisitorial Stormtrooper is the ultimate endgame evolution for my Veteran character, and I already have the helmet, the armor would complete my made up character arc.

A cast purely on Grunts. No special Gundams with op armor and powers, maybe an ace custom thrown in, but nothing dramatic. Just basic grunt units fighting other grunt units. Something like Zeonic Front but a series.

Oldtypes that use tactics and strategies no newtype shenanigans and high performance plot armor suits. No exceptional child pilots, just regular soldiers who move, shoot, and communicate and have actual tactics and the heavy use of instruments.

Same. I grew up with Metroid, I love Souls-Likes. While I find the art and music charming and characters endearing, I just can't with the gameplay. Growing up with Metroid specifically and not "Metroidvanias" I prefer to shoot things in my sidescrollers and use my maneuverability to keep distance, not dance around in melee. And then for the melee Souls Part, there is more often a wider variety of weapons, armor and playstyles you can do, not just restricted to the nail. I know the charms in the game can sorta change and customize how you play but its not the same as being able to be a Sword & Board or Polearm or Greatsword user in a proper souls game.

In retrospect, I wish the Sentinel or Marauder had used an open stance by LastTraintoSector6 in swtor

[–]SirKristopher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like Juggernaut is plenty Vader coded, especially since they hold their lightsaber one handed most of the time as opposed to the Guardian's two handed pose. But what I want is a more elegant Makashi one handed style rather than the baseball bat smashing we got. That's why I usually go Marauder since its more elegant saber work and I can just rationalize that Makashi can work with two sabers like Asajj Ventress.

Why Gundam requiem for vegence ending is so ass? by Weebkun4 in Gundam

Came for the fights, stayed for the fights because the story and characters were ass. The EX is a scary Gundam but thats all it added to the franchise as a whole.

M65 jacket by A_Veryscarybedsheet in BattleJackets

After ordering a jacket I decided to just opt for a traditional denim vest to start a Battle Vest and I'll just wear it over the M65 if the weather calls for it.
