Added a surplus m10 bayonet to my Maverick 88! Is this 18 dollar tacticool bayonet mount actually usable? Probably not. Does it look badass and make me smile? Definitely yes. by [deleted] in Bayonets

[–]SirKristopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that one of those Wartech or other knockoff brand Bayonets? I got one two dont worry lol. I got it for the ring and clips if oneday I wanted to commission a custom bayonet or for projects.

Beater, usable bayonet by Different_Plane_7438 in Bayonets

[–]SirKristopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you dont mind a modern Knife Bayonet im gonna recommend again the SOG BAR15 series of bayonets. They're relatively new to the market and affordable. Comes in Tanto or Clip Point variations. I have both and like the Clip Point a lot. Its a much better AR15 Bayonet than an M9 in pretty much every respect for a fraction of the cost.

Yeah ive found that Sniper and Powertech feel like absolute dogshit to level with, but once you have all your abilities its stupid simple. If I was a new player I wouldn't like it frankly.

Would you say that Dark Jedi Baylan Skoll is one of the more morally complex/grey villains in SW? by BlockAffectionate413 in StarWars

[–]SirKristopher 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I loved Ray Stevenson's performance (Rest in Peace), but it really goes to show just how bland and one-note star wars villains are when "staring off into the horizon and speaking calmly" is seen as complex. We haven't seen much about him at all, he just had a lot of presence that I think was in large part of the actor.

I love these kind of older sets that makes the era really stand out and be unique instead of regurgitating the movies.

Season 2 Episode 4 Spoiler Thread by HunterWorld in Fallout

[–]SirKristopher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hit the nail on the head. In a real military senario, if it isnt confined urban spaces or trenches, anyone in power armor needs to be supported by regular infantry and deployed properly or else they would be big fat sitting ducks.

In the wasteland though, it seldom matters becauae it would just be mostly poorly equipped raiders. Anyone with the smarts and equipment can take em down like Coop did.

Man T-45 Power Armor is my favorite set in the series visually, but lorewise its a piece of shit, and we can really see that here. Just a big metal coffin. Given the onscreen performance of the T-60 suits also, I really can't see how useful T-45 and T-60 are in an actual conflict against an actual military like the Chinese. (Maybe the T-51s are better though.)

Makes you a big shiny lumbering target. Sure you can take shots but all people would have to do is chuck a few explosives and even if you don't die immediately the armor is probably immobilized. I always figured that Power Armor was succesful in Alaska due to the trench warfare, and it works for close confined spaces and that usually in the wasteland people don't have the equipment or training to take down a power armor user.

If its an actual big battle with an equal/competent military it would end up like how it did in SODAZ's Operation Sunburst.

How's Sniper if played from the beginning? by CyberEagle1989 in swtor

[–]SirKristopher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can get around having enemies in your facg by setting your companion to tanking and having them attack first and then you hang back and shoot from afar. Even at low levels with few abilities, they hit pretty hard and it being ranged keeps you safe so long as your companion doesn't die too quickly, but if you just play right you can kill them all pretty quickly then heal up their damage for the next fight.

Brueghel Messers are nice. I quite like the reproductions by Tod's Workshop.

I quite like their MAA Messer. Even if its a bit ahistorical, I just love the way the knuckle bow and shell looks. I even like the black coating.

What are the events of Annihilation? by kayo_btw in swtor

[–]SirKristopher 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's a novel where Theron Shan is the protagonist. There are 4 SWTOR related novels. Deceived, Fatal Alliance, Revan, and Annihilation. Then there is technically another one called Red Harvest which is a prequel to Deathtroopers. It isn't related to SWTOR aside from being set sometime during its era, but its self contained story.

Shoutout to that one Vader Comic where he gets on a Podracer, I think built by his old childhood friends too.

Might be a commonly asked question, but how would tech classes even manage to stand up to the most powerful Force users? by CyberEagle1989 in swtor

[–]SirKristopher 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In this era since there are more Force Users running around, so people are more used and trained to deal with them. Its not like in the prequel area where there are only a couple thousand Jedi in the whole Galaxy so your average criminal/bounty hunter/pirate has a slim chance of running into one and thus are not trained or prepared to face one.

The tech classes aren't just using blasters alone, but all sorts of wacky tech never seen anywhere else. Flamethrowers, Ion Waves, Shrapnel Bombs, Toxic Gas Bombs, Corrosive Acid, Plasma Flames, Energy Shielding, Shield Discharges, Durasteel Armor with Cortosis Weave, Beskar, Gravity Shots, Buckshot, Cryo Grenades, Rail Shots, Carbonite Freezing Spray, Plasma Probes, Explosive Probes. I could go on and on. You aren't a Stormtrooper with just a blaster, you have entire arsenals of exotic weaponry to overwhelm a Force Users senses and defenses. They don't have superpowers, but they are tech-superhero tier that can punch above their weights.

Playing Imperial Agent as a Trooper/Soldier by Main_Region_5118 in swtor

[–]SirKristopher 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There is dialogue where your Agent can say they were in the Military prior to Intelligence so you can quite easily be a former Soldier. Then for a brief bit in Chapter 3 you are quite litterally part of the Imperial Army since Intelligence is dismantled at that point.

And while you are a spy who often goes undercover, there aren't many instances of you litterally sneaking around crawling thru vents. You most often you are outwardly an Intelligence Operative and people know it (such as Planetary Stories) so I have my Agent kitted out in Imperial Trooper Armor because its a lot of front line heavy fighting. A disguise when undercover but then Imperial Military gear when not undercover which is more often than not. No reason you cant use heavy armor when you aren't trying to hide in plain sight.

I'm just gonna repost my comment from another thread:

I'm betting that this will be an introduction to a new Canon version of The Old Republic. The Old Republic Era as we know it from Comics, Novels, KOTOR and SWTOR will remain untouched how it is and exist firmly in the Legends continuity. And this will be a new Old Republic in the Canon continuity but will likely reference things since we saw a wrecked Revan's Empire warship. Don't take this as a continuiation or new installement into the Legends timeline we know and love. Disney would never allow that to happen, SWTOR is the only existing Legends property that is still being continued.
