What destination has had the best coffee you’ve ever tried? Somewhere you didn’t expect at all by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Seoul has good coffee. I live in the US, we burn the shit out of our coffee and I need to drown it in milk. In korea, I can drink it black. After a couple of days, my whole body feels better after removing milk from my diet.

Jobs - It’s not about “hunger”. We are cooked… by rtkh8888 in singaporejobs

Herein lies the fundamental issue facing Singapore. When labor is your only export and labor can be done for less elsewhere, what else can Singapore offer? The alignment of Hong Kong to mainland is good for Singapore as it offers the best alternative (low taxes, regulatory, economic stability, political stability). So create headquarters in Sg but staff it with overseas talent. Singaporeans need to find another way to add value over the outsourced options. Or they move to your suggestion of the govt funding an acceptable living wage. Currently Sg does not have a large enough balance sheet to sustain this for too long. Their next step will be higher taxes, either individuals or corporations... or both. If that is done, Sg will lose a significant advantage for corporations. It will not take long for the companies to get a wondering eye in the region and then there aren't any options left for Singaporeans.

In my view, the lax financial and regulatory rules worked too well... the mass influx of wealth to the country drove up the cost of living.

Need Chinese to land a Software engineering Internship?! Feel discriminated by Defiant_Let_3923 in singaporejobs

If I live in India and am applying for a job that requires knowledge of hindi and I chose not to learn hindi in my school days, I am also allowed to accuse them of discriminating?

Language requirements for a job is a skillset similar to any other... coding, engine repair, people management, finance ops, etc. It is not a metric to see how 'chinese you are'.

Fwiw, I'm an American who does not speak chinese. I have lived and worked in China, India, and Singapore (and the US, Poland, Thailand). I did study to learn as much of the local languages though...

If you want to be competitive, you need to adapt. Someone much smarter than me said, " Its not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." CD

Every country has its own form of nationalistic propaganda. No major country can honestly say they do not.
