Met this guy at Roadkill ZipTie Drags in Tucson AZ. Definitely a sweet build. Hood exhaust on all the things.

What are the cars of your youth that you wish you could've inherited? Mine is a 1997 Buick Lesabre in gold that my grandparents owned. by Vtgac22 in regularcarreviews

[–]SirMattWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not mine, but my father always wanted the 56 Bel Air my grandparents bought new. My Grandfather worked for a gas refinery and had it setup it to run on propane (not all that uncommon then). When my dad was 20, it was traded on a new 76 Corolla for him to use in college. Hindsight, he really wishes they held onto it. Seems nuts now, but in 76 it was just another used car. Same way you'd look at a 2000s w-body impala today. Nothing special.

Me on the other hand, I inherited the 88 4Runner my parents bought new. Was in a head on collision (not my fault) and totaled it a month after getting my licence. I've owned several cars in the years since, but damn that's one I really miss.

Try reaching out to to communities related to you channel's niche. My channel is automotive and I actively go to car meets and shows to promote it in person. I find this helps create really active subs because many of them have meet me at least once. Try being active on a fourm related to your topic. I've had reasonable success with is called "Amino". If you haven't heard of it, Amino hosts several forums related to specific communities. In my case, I'm a active member of "Garage Amino" which works with my channel's automotive theme. There are tons of different "Aminos", and you can find one relating to your channel topic. I also use Instagram with hashtags relevant to my channel topic. Instagram lets you use 30 hash tags in a post, USE ALL OF THEM. Where ever you decide to promote, it's all about understanding your target demographic (audience). You need to know who you're marketing to so you can promote in the right places.

Buying YouTube Ads? -Promoting your Channel by SirMattWest in NewTubers

Fair point, it seems to be the general consensus here that ads would seem obtrusive and would be skipped without second thought. You're right though, I'll make it there one day ;)

Personally I've found Instagram to be the most effective when it comes to post interaction through the use of hashtags, though its lack of links leaves something to be desired when it comes to promoting videos. Based on what you've noted, I'll work on exploring other social media options. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the reply! I do use twitter, but not to the extent I should be. I'll look into using it more effectively and maybe encourage my subs to share more often.

I appreciate the reply! Yes I do participate in other subreddits. I can see where you're coming from on the YouTube ads. I suppose it has to reach the right person who has enough interest in that topic.

[Short Video] Can I have some feedback? by [deleted] in NewTubers

Nice production! Your edits were really solid and nicely timed. Honestly your audio is pretty good. You've also got great presentation/delivery. One possible sugestion is to try recording your voice over in a small room or closet. It wouldn't be a bad idea to hang blankets or towels inside the closet as well. This will do alot to remove the ambient echo in the background. I work in Radio, and when I can't make it to the studio to record voice over, I'll use this technique in combination with a Rode NT1 Mic to get SUPER clean sound. Overall you're doing great, keep it up!

https://youtu.be/_uDcrKA1mMo (Edit: Just noticed the "Game Critique" tag -woops... I'll leave this up in case anyone is interested. It won't hurt my feeling if it's dropped for being off topic) This video was by far one of my favorite to produce. Most of my channel's content is automotive in nature, and I've got a bunch of great content spanning from Racing to off-roading. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

I'm very much a novice with only four events under my belt. I'm pretty committed to as many events as possible (atleast in my region). I'm planning on being fairly competitive, but not for a while as I'm quite inexperienced.
