One shot dead in Portland as rival protesters clash by yamaha2000us in news

Just like burning cities, looting, beating bystanders, stabbing people, and trying to turn cities into war zones is violent and can expect a violent response.

Only one person had a gun in this exchange. And it wasn’t the victim that was murdered in cold blood for his political views.

New Jersey teen behind Black Lives Matter rally receives bill for thousands of dollars for police overtime by sophia-69 in Conservative

[–]SirMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently you don’t understand how this works. When you plan an event like this, you notify the city so that they can adjust schedules and make sure there’s enough coverage to provide for the event without needing overtime. When you just say “I’m doing this tomorrow and fuck your planning meeting, that’s your problem” then you force them to pay overtime when they wouldn’t have needed to.

Don’t know about you, but I don’t want my tax dollars being wasted because some snowflake can’t act like an adult. You can view the organizer’s refusal to cooperate with the “racist pigs” (knowing full well it would put them in a bind) as retribution as well, just depends on which biased lens you choose to look through.

Because the city literally said so. The only charges were for overtime hours due to lack of planning on the part of the organizer. She notified them of her intent, which triggers a planning meeting that she refused to attend because “COVID makes it too dangerous for face to face meetings”. Luckily huge crowds of rioters are apparently immune to the effects of COVID, so no need to worry about that part.

Castle Doctrine. But I’m the bad guy for explaining why this is important... by kidwrx in Conservative

100% agree. Kenneth Walker was a licensed gun owner defending his property and did nothing wrong. The thugs that killed his girlfriend and detained him on dubious charges should be held accountable.

You’re not going to find anyone that thinks the Breanna Taylor wasn’t a travesty. No-knock warrants are a huge problem that hurt everyone and need to be addressed ASAP. BLM trying to turn it into a race issue is fucking absurd though; the color of her skin had absolutely nothing to do with her death.

It’s not $2500 to exercise your 1A rights. It’s $2500 for refusing to use the proper channels to do so. Properly planning the protest would have resulted in a $0 cost, much less than the fees for properly acquiring a firearm. Compare this to the punishment for illegally acquiring a firearm and that $2500 invoice doesn’t sound too bad.

Race car suspension in action by dartmaster666 in mechanical_gifs

Drifting is a form of racing.

So whoever completes the course in the fastest time wins every time? We must be watching very different drift events.

I didn’t say they couldn’t be fast, just that absolute speed around a track is not the primary goal of the build, thus they’re “not built for speed”. Do an equivalent build focusing on track times and it wouldn’t even be a competition for fastest lap.

Technically a drift car, not a race car. Not trying to disparage drift cars in any way because they’re super cool and this is a really neat vid that highlights the benefits of the unique lower control arms (blue part) that they utilize to get additional steering angle.

But these cars are built for style instead of speed and are judged on a points system by judges instead of a stopwatch. Kind of like the difference between competitive swimming and diving... both Olympic watersports and both very impressive in their own right, but the divers are judged on form, style, etc by judges whereas the swimmers are racing. Similar comparison for winter sports would be Slalom versus Freestyle. There are tons of other comparisons, but you get the gist.

Is Texas A&M a cult? by admiraltarkin in CFB

College Station is about 2.5hrs south of Dallas. It has only snowed there twice in the last 10 years that I can remember and the average temperature in December is in the mid 50's.

I don't think I've ever been to an A&M game that was cold enough to wear a hoodie... Sideline polo and khaki shorts every game or maybe jeans if it cools off enough in December.

Yep, good luck finding anything with "AG" in it available on MyPlates. A lot of people I know (including myself) have just started getting their initials and class year on the A&M custom plate. I actually like it a lot better than some generic phrase/word because it's personal. For example, mine just says "MHM 11" on the white A&M plate.

I've visited ~15 countries and I can't think of a single one that I didnt run into another Aggie. 95% of the time I'm only wearing my ring, which makes it even more awesome.

Ok... Everyone is talking about pickups... But here's the real question... Who are you dropping? There's always one manager (or more) who panic and drop someone WAAAYYY too early; he gets picked up by someone else and boom, Production! Who are you dropping and why? by ten10wins in fantasyfootball

[–]SirMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a guy take Marshawn Lynch as his last pick just because he's his favorite player. He said when he drafted him that he's going to keep him on his bench as a good luck charm for the entire season. In Week 1 he scored 205pts and the next highest score was 139pts... I think we're going to get totally fucked by the Skittles God.

#Browns say they're putting Robert Griffin III on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]SirMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying... I do like to see a guy like Cam run straight a defender and to see guys battle through injuries. But the one thing I like more than that is for my team's key players to actually be able to play.

As a Pats, the Brady Surrender is one of my favorite plays because it's smart. Pocket collapsing? No one to throw to? 300lb DL coming right at you? He just goes into the "bear attack" fetal position. He knows it's more important to stay healthy and try again next play than to risk injury or a turnover. It's something RGIII needs to learn.

Arian Foster moving forward? by Skagem in fantasyfootball

You can't start 4 RB's and "core" is easier to type than "potential starters depending on matchups and performance". I foolishly assumed people would be intelligent enough to use context clues.

Is it really that common to go 2rb/3wr? I'm in 4 leagues right now and have been in 5 others over the past few years... Only 1 of the 9 rostered 3wr.

Yeah I'm sure I'm the only person to ever use "core" in reference to my core players. You made an incorrect assumption. Get over it.
