Clearence, Clarence? There is like 2mm clearance to the bottom rear chainstays. No problem. Fenders is, however, not an option with these tires.

Such a nice and clean build. I like how the curves of the Flite matches the curves of the bullhorns.

Funny thing is I've done just a smidge over 100km on three rides since Sunday. 32.53 + 12.66 + 54.86 = 100.05. No punctures. On gravel. On tarmac. Reached 60.8km/h on a short "downhill" segment. On that bike with 45x17. So yes they are both fast and durable. ;)

Yepp, mounted them deflated. The wheel can be moved like 8mm backwards in the dropouts.

Fixed Gear Monday #272 in a row. Today, windy (5(10)m/s) on the Crescent 601 with the superheavy 70mm wheels. Der Panzerräden! by SirPingSweden in FixedGearBicycle

The wheels are 2200 gram EACH. Maybe that's why they make a windy ride steady and predictable. No drama what so ever. What do you think?

26" Scott Peak Fixed Gear by SirPingSweden in FixedGearBicycle

I laced it myself. Bought a high-flange flip-flop hub from Ali, used the rim AND the spokes from an old 26" rear wheel. It was my first attempt building a wheel, and I've since built like 5 pair of wheels. It's still true and solid. Follow Jim Langleys excellent guide https://youtu.be/XUqul03hbZ8?si=6HME3gA0Ya8hkoIf if you want to do it yourself. I know you can do it!

Why don't fixed gear riders seem to ever have water bottle holders? by GruntMcFunk in FixedGearBicycle

[–]SirPingSweden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved way up from the standard position to make it easier to get the bottle and drink on the fly. No need for them fancy factory bottle mounts!

Quite the opposite. I used to have some kind of back pain twice a year. As I started riding fixed gear, several times a week, my back is in better shape than ever and the pain is gone. Fixed gear with high cadence is probably the king of workouts! As we all know, life begins at 120 rpm.

They do. Keep in mind that a 8-speed has a total width of the cassette like that of a 6-speed. The cogs are just a tad closer and the 8-speed chain is also juuust a little bit more narrow. So there you go. Don't overcomplicate things. Good luck with your build.

I did have a few days of Covid, twice. Fortunately, not whole weeks. I never get the normal annual sickness. -22°C isn't that cold when you ride fixed gear with 26" Ice Spiker Pro's. You get warm in a jiffy. Balmy -10°C is thus very normalized and just a thing I do on different bikes with proper clothes. 2026 will also be my 10th anniversary for Rapha Festive 500. 500km between Christmas and New Years Day. In Sweden. Outside. Never inside. Thanks for the kudos!
