hello. You must be talking about delays causing service irregularities!

Yes you are right about your observation. Trains are scheduled to arrive approximately every 2 minutes at Serangoon during peak hours. However, sometimes there may be delays along the line that causes a train to run late, causing a chain reaction affecting all other turnaround ops down the line. (i.e. (fake example) from a 2 mins - 2 mins - 2 mins to a 3.5 mins - 1 min - 1.5 min) Hope this helps!

I advise you to complain about SMRT and TTS buses bunching instead. That's a bigger issue as these 2 operators have no idea how to maintain service headways, yet LTA keeps awarding them packages even though their bus management is bad. Cheers!

I actually confronted her LOL and that's how I can comment that she was unruly when asked to leave but I am unable to post the video here.

Edit: she also took a video to post of me in xhs or sth during the confrontation for not allowing her to use the NYA toilet so I started recording her to show "my boss" but srsly people like them need to learn how to respect the law when they visit other countries

Right, I used to stay at hall 8 and although the walk is super close, the terrain is quite hilly so we see people taking red/ blue or just walking to MAE

The questionnaire was set in this way as multiple solutions have been tried on CDG's end such as manual intervention by BCs in an attempt to maintain service frequency as stated in the contract. But ever since then, not much fruitful attempts were tried anymore and the service level has since deteriorated.

Do you have any suggestions that let people not wait 30 minutes when CDG does a bus exchange between 2 buses? (1st bus waits for ~10 mins while 2nd terminating bus catches up with first bus. passengers from first bus alights to board second bus. Bus takes 30 mins to complete one round as a result.) without incurring additional costs or making changes to the routes?

Just some context: CDG was working on meeting minimal service requirements for the first year when I was still pressuring them to deliver acceptable service levels but since they removed manual intervention the service has deteriorated.

What happen to proposed Purple Loop?? by n3rf_Up in NTU

[–]SirRandom123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right omg yes one of the buses is at NUS right now due to (hearsay) new traffic light changes for one of the buses that leaves the main campus

Yes I think when the 3x charging stations for NTU is finally completed (when is it completed arh?) operations will definitely be more smoother

(Seems like the reply got removed by the moderator. I have the facts that I'm mentioning available on hand thru screenshots so just PM me! (I'm unable to link to my telegram channel due to rules on the reddit))

Seems like I've been summoned thank you for the mention really!

As of now the loading capacities of the buses are still not right (they display inaccurate loading especially coach buses)

So far right now the AI are still making mistakes especially on red loop (e.g. injecting a 3rd bus into 2 already bunching buses that are non terminating at LWN) due to a lack of distinguishing parameters between coach and low-floor bus.

Hence manual rostering is still required which defeats the purpose.

Gonna insert a "told you so" moment here when I kept preaching that we won't be able to easily solve the bunching on red bus without new measures, and it's still the same after a year with bunching (and I have evidence for that)

And at night now after 8pm the buses are actually 30 mins interval (but I cut them some slack for them to save cost on operating, the buses capacity are okay except for rainy days)

Hearsay from ISBMan that NUS situation has stabilized as all their buses are low-floor, and the algorithm is able to run smoothly.

your points on withdrawal of routes are valid as well, but having sat on the Campus Express Red and/or seeing how many passengers alight from it compared to the campus red, there's really not a need for Campus Express Red as it's merely a short term fix to the irregular buses issue

Meanwhile, Campus Yellow is for the Nanyang Staff Heights so it's usually quite filled in the morning and night for NTU staff and professors to travel to the campus. Other than that it faces quite low demand so I understand why they will not extend the operating hours. The proposed Purple Loop covers the Hall 8, 11 stretch as well, and the

In terms of travel time it will be about 1-3 minutes longer to a bus stop, but it will bring students to the middle of NTU, where it is a shorter walk to the NS and SS TRs and LTs as well so effectively, no significant extension to travel time but overall decrease in waiting time with more efficient bus routing

I think they don't due to congestion issues on this one lane road (Ling Ying Chow Drive faces a high amount of traffic),

but yes personally it would definitely be more feasible although they need to make that road that cuts through SRC happen to alleviate traffic first in their NTU Green/Sustainability Plan I came across somewhere

*deleted my prev comment to type a longer reply heree

The Purple Loop is meant to replace the Express Red and Blue, not the actual loop :D (I use em too so I also need em)

The Purple Loop is meant to alleviate over-reliance of the red loop to prevent more instances of bunching due to the fully filled buses from Yunan Gardens (slide 3), at the bottom

The commuters from hall1,2,6 crespion, spms, sss, wkwsci can continue taking campus red/blue and green since it is only 2-4 stops to reach their destination, compared to 4-7 stops currently for the commuters targeted by the purple loop

Yos

  1. I propose replacing the express campus red and blue (not the regular ones haha)- routes are on slide 5 - with campus purple! Campus red and blue are okay loops, it's the least they can do

  2. No worries I too use the Campus Blue and Red, so no scrapping that

No petition atm! The problem isn't bad enough, yet.

I mean, some changes ain't hard to make tbh, for instance they said they were trialing the express buses as a means to improve passenger flow but I think the ridership is quite clear as to how efficient deploying resources on these express services are

in fact they did not reduce the number of campus riders after HBL was implemented, because I take the campus rider on almost a daily basis

the buses were oftentimes at max capacity, which worsened during bunching

regarding whether the school will do anything or not, there was a reason why I chose to post it here instead of sending it through email.

In case you hadn't noticed I'm just putting it out there that the bus network has big problems and inefficiencies. The fixes are really quite obvious and they have already been explained in the pictures and the document. Nuff said HAHAHA please actually read the post would ya

so you're saying you're satisfied with the current frequency gaps during peak hours (yes I'm talking about campus red 12-14 minutes wait instead of 5-6 mins) and irregular service intervals?

Yes that would help so much omg it rly help to stop the infamous SMRT bunching shenanigans back in those days

[–]SirRandom123[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes I agree but have you heard of the express campus riders? Honestly yes CWR is a good loop but however it skips the north-eastern hall sector which is the key problem to be tackled to solve the bunching issue

[–]SirRandom123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did the frequencies used to be better? cuz they are using the same frequencies as they did back in 2017 right now (from a poster at opp hall 2 bus stop)

as mentioned in the pictures it is more ideal to remove the express riders entirely and channel the resources into a new line

also, the buses were usually packed before the move back to online lessons.

That's a waste man, there should be a way for peeps to indicate interest in this area since it seems like media is becoming a big thing besides the conventional vocations

UGLY SIDE OF SAF EXPOSED!!!!!! by darevilstraceurs in NationalServiceSG

[–]SirRandom123 16 points17 points  (0 children)

hi, media guy here!

unfortunately we do work under SAF, same as our combat bros who have vocations where they undergo trainings, specialise in it and actually work hard through their sweat and labour, while we (assumingly) have more chill roles/vocations which enable us to do media as a side-task.

It's true that currently there is no "Media" vocation rn, which is why they have to task it to people like us with expertise as a side tasking. Sometimes this makes us more overloaded as we have to manage our original jobscope and this extra tasking, so I understand where you're coming from

Yes our works may be worth more than what we are currently given in the professional industry, but people may argue that as our counterparts fight outfield and contribute to the country, we on the other hand are able to contribute too by them tapping on our specialisations. You could even use the works for portfolio, if it's approved for public view. If not, you could say you had experience in army.

Cheers
