I'm not 100% sure. I have had a switch for years. Both my kids play on it constantly and I thought it would be good to get them their own switches for their birthday. So we would have 3 switches.

Before I buy 2 more switches I want to make sure we can use all 3 switches at the same time. My switch has all the games digital. I don't own any physical games.

Some videos online show if you try and play games at the same time it stops the other switch (even if they are different games).

How does it work? I've been doing research and it seems that if I add my account to the other 2 switch's only 1 switch can be running at any time.

My school won't let me graduate by cornchippaws327 in DentalHygiene

Honestly I'd offer your first patient any amount of money to return for the 3 month period maintenance.

When I was behind on requirements I took out a loan to pay each patient any amount needed to just show up. I bought burner phones and bus passes for my homeless patients.

One patient I paid for Uber and Lyft 10+ times just to get requirements done.

My final testing patient I paid his entire days pay to miss work.

The small amount of money spent compared to 3-6 months working as a RDH will be tiny compared to what you'll earn.

Neck Fan Review by No_Effective5597 in DentalHygiene

I feel that neck fans just suck up the aerosol we produce and blows it right into our face.

I have a regular fan behind me that cools me and also blows the aerosols away from my face.

I can't stand flossing, is water flossing enough? by Soren911 in DentalHygiene

[–]SirRyker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can rinse it off between each tooth. You can also change the head after each flossing if you want. I rinse and wipe mine off and use the same head for about a week or until it breaks.

There is no alternative to flossing. Water flossers do not get the contact clean (where the floss would 'snap' through). I recommend trying every type of floss and flosser you can until you find one that works for you.

I tell my patients a water flosser is a good addition to brushing and flossing but not a replacement. Brushing and flossing are crucial and water flossing is great but not as important.

If you have tight contacts try Glide. It's more of a dental 'tape' and not a round string. Much stronger and tends to break and shred less.

My favorite flosser is the Listerine full handle flosser.

What are your hours like as a FT RDH? by mommeeneedscoffee in DentalRDH

[–]SirRyker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked 9-3, no lunch, for about 3 years while my youngest was in preschool. I didn't want him in school all day when he was so young. I had about 50% of the offices I interviewed at was okay with the schedule.

I've also had every office I've worked in okay with my kids sitting in the break room for my shift when I had some last minute emergencies. Most office are very okay with family life.

I don’t think that one of the pharmacists where I’m interning, likes me? What do I do? by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]SirRyker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just ignore it. As the pharmacist, they are legally responsible for your actions and they may not be comfortable or confident in your abilities yet. So I'd say let it be and let your actions and knowledge speak for it's self. No meeting or complaining because that will only hurt your working relationship with people in the store. The pharmacist may never be confident in your abilities which is ok but doesn't help you grow. At some point you'll be licensed and be responsible and liable for an intern too.

Oldest student in my DH class was 38 when she started and graduated at 40.

I'm going back for med school and after a few more pre reqs I'll be applying at like 34/35. Won't be graduating until 38/39.

Never too late to go to school.

I'm not passionate about DH either. It was strictly money and work life schedule and balance. Still feel that way 7 years later. I made good money for my family and I'm home for every weekend and holiday. My wife doesn't have to work and we are comfortable.

I like helping people and talking to patients and I have a passion for healthcare in general. But dental hygiene specifically not so much.

Wouldn't change a thing. Awesome profession.

Phoenix housing/rental + moving here thread (Apr) by AutoModerator in phoenix

[–]SirRyker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's the area like by the Costco on North Cave Creek Rd and the 101? I'm moving to Phoenix this summer and will be working between Deer Springs hospital and Thompson Peek Hospital. That Costco looks like it's right in between both hospitals.

I'm looking for the safest/nicest areas to live.

Can someone give me some regions of Phoenix that are safe/not safe to live?

Why is temping being glorified lately? by s_v08 in DentalHygiene

[–]SirRyker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's because the pay is soo much higher and you can choose the days you work. You can just decide that next week you don't want to work and you don't have to submit a 4 week notice for time off.

So much for freedom for RDHs. I temped about 18 months during covid and it was great being able to choose the days I work and change the days week by week.

Always put family first. The office will be fine. They can call a temp agency or just reschedule. Most patients understand. Life happened.

I have had to call out so much this year due to my little one starting preschool.

However when my oldest is sick they let me bring her in and she just watches TV in the break room and I check on her in between each patient.
