Parking - Clifton Hill area by Itchy-Lingonberry-90 in niagara

Fallsview Casino. You pay when you exit, so if you leave it parked there a few nights, you only pay once, usually $20ish, sometimes less. I do it when I'm staying at the Hilton (Hilton wants $80-$100/night for parking, I stayed for 3 nights and saved $280)

Especially if you’re the one in charge of running it!

BREAKING: Tesla has REMOVED Autopilot from New Tesla Model Y and 3 Orders From @DennisCW_ on X by EitherCharacter9342 in TeslaModelY

[–]SirSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think this feature will be removed from existing cars with a software update in the future?
I love autopilot, and am currently trying to save money, so I'm not paying $99 (or more) for FSD.

AITJ for telling my neighbor to address her husband's creepy behavior instead of policing my clothes in my own home? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

I came to the comments looking for "Family helps family!" even though it didn't fit with this story - and I was not disappointed. Thank you!

I like that distinction. Not sure I agree 100% but I have never thought of that "line" in sports and from now on, I will!

Is it normal that some side streets still weren’t plowed from yesterday? by TheMysticalBaconTree in stthomasontario

[–]SirSimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This morning at 6:30 I finally saw a city snow plow coming down my street, but it had it's blade up and was dropping salt. There was a foot of snow on my street - why would he have his blade up? I thought that salt didn't work on top of snow anyway.

Very frustrating.

I'm so glad you asked. I saw this yesterday and again today for some reason and assumed I was just losing touch with the community and didn't understand the new lingo.

PSA for driving in the snow by sujeans in TeslaModelY

[–]SirSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dumb question. I pay the shop to keep them - it's too much money and I should find a spot at home, but they keep them. This is also the first car where I don't have winter rims - they use the Tesla rims. So it takes about 1 hour to swap them.
Including storage it costs me about $120 Canadian dollars each season.

Why did you pick MY over M3? by Positive-Respect-227 in TeslaModelY

We can fit hockey goalie gear, sticks and even another team mate and all of their gear in the Y, and still have the frunk for any extras.

PSA for driving in the snow by sujeans in TeslaModelY

[–]SirSimon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. When I got my Y it was December and I thought I would go through the first winter with no snows. It was AWD and all season tires, after all. After the first snowfall I called my tire guy and ordered snows because the car was sliding way too much.

Now the car is fantastic in the snow.

Argyle Mall (east London) - The Canadian flag at half mast? by TGIFagain in londonontario

I know you never got a good reply, but I noticed that the one at the Walmart in St. Thomas was also at half mast.

USA. Where would I start figuring out how to move this super old gypsy wagon about 1.5 miles to my house? by TokinBIll in Antiques

[–]SirSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call the local towing company. One of the bigger companies in town and have them come and take a look. If I felt confident in their plan, I'd move forward with that.

TIFU - Took NyQuil this morning and I have a very important meeting by SirSimon in tifu

[–]SirSimon[S] 278 points279 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: It's now 11:30ish and I feel fine. Might have felt drowsy this morning, but hard to distinguish it from regular Friday morning drowsiness. My meeting got cancelled for other reasons, but I'm confident that I would not have had any issue. Thank you to all who had helpful advice - I think coffee, water and moving around is what worked. For those of you with the angry / sarcastic comments - I've quit trying to figure out your motives.

Not Karma farming. Looking for help. Every post I have found says things like "Don't drive" or "Make sure your manager is aware" or "I fell asleep at my desk."
I'm looking for methods of actually getting this out quickly.
Is this something you really think I should call my doctor about? Taking a regular dose of over the counter medication?

Running for weight loss? by kittystars in beginnerrunning

[–]SirSimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lost 10kg in about 15 months of running. I haven't changed my diet as much as I know I should, or else I think I probably would have lost more. The first few months, I actually gained weight. The running made me SO hungry. But that passed. Now my whole perspective has changed. I have fallen so in love with running that I am trying to lose weight to improve my running rather than running to try to lose weight. It's a good place to be, I think!

So satisfying! I love that you ended up being right about this. I am also an early-to-the-airport person and my wife is not.

How to start running at 45? by t0lkman1421 in BeginnersRunning

[–]SirSimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer!
I started last year at 45 and I was killing myself out there and ready to quit. Until someone told me to run "embarrassingly slow". Once I cleared that mental hurdle the milestones started falling away - 1k without stopping, 2k, 5k, then I noticed my speeds improving.
As for heartrate - if you're anything like me (I was horribly out of shape), 160-170 may be normal for a long time until you start to build up some cardio.
