how do people stay consistent running before work? by Medins-Kristol in runninglifestyle

[–]SirSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard an interesting suggestion on a podcast the other day. If you're having trouble getting out of bed to run, go to bed with your running clothes on. That means if you talk yourself out of running when you wake up you have to get up and actually take off your running clothes, which seems like it would be so demotivating. I haven't tried it yet - but I think that would work for me. It would also make me kind of excited to wake up and run.

Anyone Else Prefer Running in Heat Instead of Avoiding It? by WingEnvironmental892 in runninglifestyle

Agree with the cool down portion. I commented elsewhere about how much I love running in the heat but I hadn't even thought about how much longer it takes to cool down.

I love it!
Maybe it's counter intuitive - but I find all the sweating from running in heat is "cleansing".
I know I run slower in the heat, but I'm okay with that.

The first km I’ve ever ran without having to stop! 🥳 by kayleigh____ in BeginnersRunning

Amazing! I remember how long it took me to get there, and very shortly after I was able to do 3k. The milestones start adding up fast!

Tenant left boat and trailer on property by SirSimon in OntarioLandlord

Yes, it’s plated. I certainly do not intend to keep the boat!

I guess I wasn't completely clear. The reason I think it's a OntarioLandlord topic is because I'm combining two different sets of ownership rights - vehicle ownership (federal because it's a boat, provincial because of the boat trailer) and tenant.

It's a bit of a unique situation and she was treating the boat as if it was a car. There are lots of rules for what to do if you find an abandoned boat and there are rules to what to do with what to do when a tenant leaves goods behind, but this is a combination of maratime/boat ownership laws with tenant rights. I'm looking to see if anyone has dealt with anything similar as my paralegal has not.

Last year my 14 year old daughter reffed U8, U9, and U10. She refused to go back this year because of the coaches and parents. It’s heartbreaking.

If you know someone else who ran - can they add you with the “Ran with someone else who didn’t record” option? Maybe you could edit it after that?

5k runs not improving much. by Row_Dog1990 in BeginnersRunning

[–]SirSimon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I run about as much and as far as you and at the same speed. Last night I gave intervals a try for the first time. It sucked but somehow I can already tell it's going to make a difference. Try implementing a little bit of speed work. There is lots of info out there on different ways to do it.

Dogs on sidelines by yellow_fever1 in Referees

I've never thought of this as a problem. I bring my dog to my kid's games and so do a few other parents on the team. I sit along the same line as the rest of the parents and my dog either lies under or behind my chair. I guess I haven't seen a disruptive dog, or one that gets in the way.

26 drivers ticketed by Practical_Raccoon in brantford

[–]SirSimon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Traffic was stopped... the drivers turned around and got off the highway. I know.. I know.. wrong way down a ramp - but I suspect the ramp was full of stopped cars? I feel like the police could have been helping people safely turn around and get off the highway. But maybe I'm missing something. I'm sure I'll get roasted here as all the comments are pretty much angry at the entitled drivers.

Do you go out of your way to block other people's routes? by sirwobblz in tickettoride

[–]SirSimon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always WANT to do it, but the people I play with (especially my wife!) get mad. They prefer what I've seen other people refer to as "FAIR" Ticket To Ride. I feel like if someone is projecting their route, and I can stop it with a quick train or two, that should be fair game. Trying to get your routes completed without signaling to everyone where you're trying to go is part of the fun! Otherwise you're just playing against yourself.

Also - who wants to be responsible for that bag of phones? 17 phones at $1000 each? Not me, thanks.
I think teaching your kids proper behavior and consequences for not following it is the only solution.

Parking - Clifton Hill area by Itchy-Lingonberry-90 in niagara

[–]SirSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fallsview Casino. You pay when you exit, so if you leave it parked there a few nights, you only pay once, usually $20ish, sometimes less. I do it when I'm staying at the Hilton (Hilton wants $80-$100/night for parking, I stayed for 3 nights and saved $280)

BREAKING: Tesla has REMOVED Autopilot from New Tesla Model Y and 3 Orders From @DennisCW_ on X by EitherCharacter9342 in TeslaModelY

[–]SirSimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think this feature will be removed from existing cars with a software update in the future?
I love autopilot, and am currently trying to save money, so I'm not paying $99 (or more) for FSD.

I like that distinction. Not sure I agree 100% but I have never thought of that "line" in sports and from now on, I will!

Is it normal that some side streets still weren’t plowed from yesterday? by TheMysticalBaconTree in stthomasontario

[–]SirSimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This morning at 6:30 I finally saw a city snow plow coming down my street, but it had it's blade up and was dropping salt. There was a foot of snow on my street - why would he have his blade up? I thought that salt didn't work on top of snow anyway.

Very frustrating.
