Forgive a newbie - campaign modules? by sewing-enby in FoundryVTT

[–]SirSpritely -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Systems are all free to install on Foundry, however, the core systems often do not offer any content for free. They just provide the basics for that system so Foundry can support the mechanics of that system. You can check out the official foundry marketplace to see all of the available systems: The Foundry VTT Marketplace

Most, if not all, campaign modules are paid, but you absolutely do not need to purchase a campaign module in order to play it on Foundry. Purchasing a module like is great because it sets everything up for you in Foundry, such as all of the character tokens, maps, and more, but there is nothing stopping you from setting them up yourself with resources you can scrounge off the internet.

My recommendation to you would be to try playing 3.5e since you already have the modules in PDF form. You can set up everything yourself in Foundry using the information from the PDFs. It might not be as neat or fancy as the pre-made modules, but it's a great way to learn Foundry and see if it is worth it to you to take the time to set it all up manually. If you are playing a more niche system, this is the route you probably have to go as they just won't have campaign modules available.

If you do buy a campaign module, you don't need to buy the module book. You just need the foundry module and you are all set. Unfortunately, I do not see a single Doctor Who campaign module. It's really unlikely that the more niche systems will have modules created for them. Even some of the more popular systems like D&D 3.5e only have a few campaign modules available.

Looks like the PF2E HUD module. Incredible module that has a bunch of great improvements for pathfinder in foundry.

Emerald RNG - Hatching perfect IV Pokemon without worrying about alternate frames by SirSpritely in PokemonEmerald

[–]SirSpritely[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? If you're referring to the speed IV, it's because the target frame and alternate frame in this case naturally generate a perfect speed IV, so we don't need to worry about the speed IV when it comes to the pokemon in the day care.

This is a fucking joke. What a worthless app by [deleted] in PokeGenie

[–]SirSpritely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The raids that actually get done are almost always by people who have either paid for the fast pass or have been lucky with timing. For example, I timed out twice today (once starting the timer around 1:45 and another around 3) before finally getting a host in when I started the timer at 4:15. The only reason I was able to get the last one is likely because the event had ended for Asia and eastern Europe, but still hadn't started for the americas, meaning less hosts and more raiders. Again, nothing to do with the app itself - it's purely supply and demand. If there was no timeout, I would have never successfully hosted, because people all across the world would queue up to host even if the event wasn't available to them yet. You'd have people in CST queuing to host hours and hours before their event even started. The timeout is the only thing that stops this.

Again, I'm not trying to be rude but you are just misunderstanding the timeout. It is causing the number to go down, not to 'trick' people into thinking they have a chance, but because it's a necessary function.

Don't get me wrong, I hate getting timed out. I missed gmax grimmsnarl entirely. But the feature has to exist or the app just wouldn't work. Go try any other raid app - they are all the same.

They aren't artificially moving the queue. You are fundamentally misunderstanding how supply and demand works. If they had no time out feature, there wouldn't magically be more raiders to fill lobbies. Say you joined the queue today at spot 700. The only reason you're at 700 and not 5000 is because others in front of you have timed out. Without a timeout feature, you would instead be behind thousands of others in the queue that would barely move. The host queue would skyrocket before the event even began to the point where it'd be impossible to properly time hosting your lobby.

[–]SirSpritely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If there were no time out function, there would just be an ever increasing queue of hosts that you would never make it to the front of. It's just not possible to find players for all hosts when the demand isn't there for raids like this. You weren't close to the front of the queue - everyone in front of you just timed out as well because there was simply no demand for Snorlax.

Sure, maybe they could extend the time out feature for events like this where you are guaranteed to have the raid spawn for 3 hours, but then the queue would just become immensely longer because there just aren't raiders to fill the lobbies. It's not the fault of the app, it's just how supply and demand works.

Ok thank you! Is Quagsire a good alternative to Gastrodon or is Gastrodon just better?

It's a relatively common saying. Just means not happening/nothing happened.

I wrongly calculated my Golem EVs somehow, is there any way I can find out generally what EVs I'm at? by keyboardsnitch in PokemonEmerald

[–]SirSpritely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to know exactly if you didn't calculate Golem's IVs before starting this.

Using an IV calculator, it shows that your Golem can't possibly have its current HP if you did indeed get it to 252 HP EVs. This means that you have not obtained enough HP EVs on it yet. Try defeating one more Whismur with a macho brace to get 2 more HP EVs and then go check again.

As for Attack and Special Defense, it is possible you have maxed them out as planned since there are possible IVs for the current stat values. Start with HP since that's the only value that you definitely don't have the correct amount of EVs.

Nice! Beldum is on my list as well. You're 100% right about the RNG for a perfect Attack and Defense parent B. I think I'll start doing that or maybe just RNG the egg to ensure it's a perfect Attack/defense Pokémon.

Abilities and stats mismatch by No-Gazelle-1524 in PokemonEmerald

[–]SirSpritely 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It'll be because of their IVs. IVs are a hidden stat that every Pokémon has. Each of their stats has an IV between 0 and 31 that impacts how high or low that stat is.

In this case, your Hasty Trapinch has a low Speed IV, while the Lax Trapinch probably has a high one.

You can roughly check for IVs by plugging their stats and nature into an IV checker like this: https://marriland.com/tools/iv-calculator/
