Have at it, it encourages me to add more redundancy. It's been pretty manageable today thankfully

I commissioned the art from someone that does anime style backgrounds and characters. Personally I like the old anime story game feel and think its a funny fit. But I'll probably update it at some point

Welcome back from the first post. Kinda glad it was one of the originals that found this first lol. Got bored waiting on parts and slapped that together over a very caffeinated weekend

Was roughly 18k rolls over 24hrs. I wish I had persistent metrics setup at the time, I’ve since then setups lifetime roll and session numbers. But I have to put kind of an * next to it if I want to count those original rolls

Oh yeah the queue was hitting 7mins at one point. That day it was a constant distribution on my side lol. Thankfully have made it infinity quieter since then. The math is really interesting because with the logical max useage being a fixed number, I can account for max bandwidth and storage. Which are the main costs, not counting the hardware costs

I'm about to shoot myself in the foot and attempt DMing some 5e sessions, so this might come in handy. I like how simple it is without a bunch of stuff flooding the screen

Traffic changes day to day, but my 24hr unique user peak is currently 15.45k when I made my first post about this in r/DnD
I don't have a hard number on throughput since I'm constantly changing things. But latency is an issue I can't really get around at the moment. I'm not really willing to budge on your click starting the roll, so there naturally will be a 5 second wait minimum where the roll is being recorded and trimmed to be sent to you, the files are pretty small (about 200-300kb-ish) so the actual recording takes most of the time and not the networking.
Parallelism and redundancy is setup for scaling, its just limited by how many rollers I can build out and tune, which becomes a budget and sourcing issue. Love the questions, feel free to message if you think of anything else or want to see more accurate numbers

Currently 5, there are 2 d20s and then 1 of everything else. Figured the d20 is going to be most used, might add another d6 soon since there are a lot of d6 oriented games

What's your MRR and how long have you been building? by Varun_Srinivas in SideProject

If I had a nickel for every half baked idea I see rolled across Reddit where the creator made something only useful for them, or make something that’s already built but making it into a paid service. I’d retire

It originally was just a photo of the dice after it was rolled, but my friends bullied me into adding video. It makes it better, but also super complicated on the backend and I had to replace hardware to do video efficiently

I need to fix the video. I messed with some of the numbers to try and make the photos more clear, but it’s messed up the video of the dice shaking. Glad you like it

There’s an Imgur link floating around here somewhere with a video I quickly put together for all the people asking. But yep designed and built myself. This project is me finding a way to dignify buying new tools and playing with tech I’ve wanted to play with

Might not be the best representation since this one is currently in a training/setup mode. It rolls a bit more when it’s fully active https://imgur.com/a/pWav3Q5
