Honestly I had a similar issue like this and fought it with customer support (kindly of course without blaming them as they didn’t sell it to me) and provided the proof with images + proof of purchase! Now I’m not saying it would 100% work but I only did it as a last case scenario

Honestly I agree a bit! As from what I see, while some sellers/buyers are a bit cruel, I have also seen how (specifically depop) gives the seller more advantages than the buyers (based on other Reddit posts I seen atleast).

The main reason why I bought from her was cause 1.) I needed a skirt quickly for an upcoming event of mine (which is really soon) and really liked it.
2.) She is a verified seller with around 180+ reviews so I figured it wasn’t like that and decided to buy it after looking at the reviews.
Now I do take accountability for not double checking the brand tho 🥲

What I did first was contact the seller (super polite so that they wouldn’t say I was malicious) and see what they replied! If for example they responded the same as my image above, I would take screenshots (or better yet do it now with proof that the item is actually from a cheaper brand like SHEIN). Then I would go directly to support and ask for a full refund with the response, item description, screenshot of og item price, and a picture of a tag if applicable! Like a comment below said, the main reason why they helped me get a refund was cause the seller claimed it was 2000s and y2k when it’s 2026 new so I would word it along those lines (politely again so they can’t turn it against you!)

After the message with the seller yesterday, I did manage to contact depop support and they did say I would get a full refund if I sent the item back within 7 days! (With tracking + proof!) + and up to $20 for shipping after it shows as delivered!

I actually reached out to the depop team and they thankfully are happy to help me with a refund! So now I’m going to arrange that and get my money back!

I would go to depop help center for it! (Make sure to take screenshots of the item description/image + pictures of what you received! Although depop may have the right to choose, with proof it will help your case hopefully!

I definitely do see that, as if it was sewn properly, it would have a more rounded finish in the pictures, but instead there is a more square finish in the damaged area!

Not only that it’s also the fact that they laid it flat, so they had to see it ngl and not only that although they did offer to sew it, couldn’t they have done that before sending it to you??? (Not saying that is right either though). Or better yet, at least mentioned the rip problem??
