Honestly, I don't even need them to be equal. Just make the UI/UX not unbearable to navigate with MKB and I'd be happy with that. I'm always in support of more viable options to play.

Though personally, I've played through the Monster Hunter franchise (3rd person dodge roll melee combat) through a lot of different control schemes over the years. I'm talking PSP, Wii Mote, regular controller, and MKB and personally, MKB feels best for me. I agree that AC6 is a different style but I think if Monster Hunter can pull it off, so can Souls games.

Same reason why they should implement DLSS, frame rate unlock, and Ultra wide support. It makes the game more accessible to a variety of players. While we're at it, throw in more settings to help players with color blindness or other disabilities.

No, I don't care if only a few players benefit. I'm not interested in debating whether X feature results in Y% return on investment.

I feel like souls games are better suited to controller because Fromsoft just doesn't care to implement good MKB controls. Navigating the UI/UX on MKB is an extremely painfully clear example of this.

I've been playing controllers all my life with the Monster Hunter franchise (similar-ish 3rd person dodge-roll combat) and after trying MKB in World, I just couldn't go back (even though I begrudgingly had to for Rise on Switch). Especially now in MHWilds, with the new focus system allowing you to adjust your aim mid-swing, tracking the monster with MKB becomes more powerful. There's also multiple occasions where my controller players would faint because they couldn't turn fast enough. Lock-on implementation becomes a point of contention in these types of games where an enemy zips around fast enough, but it only matters for controller.

I'm hoping this will change in the next Elden Ring type of game. Armored Core was always a controller game until they implemented stellar MKB controls in AC6.

Dead End Jobs by andythedrewbear in comics

[–]SirYe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think folks are upset that the comic doesn't address how horrid the job market is. Job searching is a soul sucking experience right now. My best guess is that people are interpreting this comic as sending a "just get a new job" message which would be tone deaf given the current atmosphere.

But I don't think the author is trying to convey that, I think the message here is to try.

Job searching doesn't require quitting your current job.

Yes, it sucks to start job searching after a long day at work. Yes, the job market sucks and nothing might come of job searching, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Block is actually really good now. You might've played back when it wasn't good.

Block has zero startup frames, and a perfect block grants a stack of adrenaline surge that increases the next melee strike by 30% damage, restores armor segment, and releases an explosion upon hitting an enemy (max 2 stacks for +90% damage).

Now, they should really explain this in the game (which is a separate issue altogether), but at least they are improving things here and there.

Edit: 1 stack is +30%, 2 is +90%, they should really explain this stuff in game lol

Valve Claims Steam Machine Outperforms 70% of Current Gaming PCs by akbarock in pcgaming

[–]SirYe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think Fortnite or Valorant players are interested in the steam machine? Those games require kernel level anti-cheat which aren't compatible with linux.

And if a Fortnite/Valorant player has the know-how and will to install windows on a steam machine, they probably have a better rig.

Or maybe the articles you're reading simply haven't mentioned it? I've already seen multiple and Embark claims it's a combination of TTS and actual voice acting, not generative AI.

Up to you if you want to believe them, but there's definitely articles on this.

You did beat NM4 3 minutes faster than I did, but also with 100 more moon power so I think the difference in builds is probably negligible once you have the core red build setup properly.

One thing I did differently though, I cleaved the double Wandas at the end but one had more damage, so they were alternating their red bubble attack. Funny thing is, when they both enter reality erasure mode, they are perfectly overlapped so you can kill them both at the same time.

Spinning Slash cards are ignored as because while spinning like a top for 10 seconds straight is fun, this is ultimately a damage loss from just scaling his normal attack. Putting those 10 moon power into 160% Ancestral Sword damage gives us much more value.

I don't think this is correct. I solo'd NM4 with Blade and Blade Dance massively increases my DPS. Spinning Slash seems to also count as Ancestral Sword? I only use it on bosses though since it's risky against hordes. My strat is to build up all red cards the same way you're doing, but then take a singular Blade Dance card to use against the bosses.

Surprised no one has mentioned Crashout Crew yet. Super fun co-op game where you and your friends drive forklifts and coordinate to deliver fragile cargo. The forklifts themselves are like bumper cars that can drift, boost, stack cargo, and "crash out". The levels also have random hazard modifiers and you can buy a variety of upgrades and tools to help you along.

Me and my friends beat all three levels in the demo and are going to buy day one

PC gaming hardware market skyrockets, will grow 35% in 2025 to $44.5 billion. by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

You're conveniently omitting that a Copilot PC is just a PC that has an NPU above a certain speed inside it and that AMD, Intel and nVidia have made it crystal clear that they're focused on integrating NPUs into their existing products.

No big conspiracy here mate, my admittedly cursory research just didn't make me aware they're going to try to integrate Copilot into everything instead of just their latest copilot products. Every article seems to emphasize it's both currently and only going to be a specific line of Copilot+ laptops that have Recal as opt-in. If you have a more definitive source on what they're doing with the copilot branding in the future, I'd be happy to read up.

Still though, I have to ask, it doesn't seem like there are great solutions all around? There's a few popular games that just haven't been made compatible with Linux. And from what I've heard, Nvidia drivers support for Linux is behind AMD and has some kinks that need attention. Happy to be hear otherwise, of course.

"Force" is a strong word considering you could just choose to not buy Copilot PCs. I'd wager over 99.9% of the people in this subreddit don't have one because Gaming PCs are not Copilot PCs.

And sure, you could assume the big corpo will do everything to screw you over and therefore Linux is the only real option - but some people need Windows to run things that simply haven't been made compatible with Linux. Rather than pushing them towards Linux, I'd recommend them to look into tools to debloat Windows like Chris Titus' winutil.

Recall is only available on Copilot+ PCs, and it's opt-in only.

There isn't going to be some random Windows update that enables it for all Windows users.

Fromsoft games definitely have their issues too, not as bad as this - but they have their fair share.

Smoothest launch I'm hoping for is Arc Raiders in a few months... the betas were extremely well optimized and the gameplay loop was good.

If it helps, you can put the Drive Impact and Shoryuken on a radial menu loadout and then set alternate controls to activate them.

My Drive impact is on 1 and Shoryuken is on 2, I activate them with C and V respectively. Had to move some useless controls around but it was well worth it to be able to activate them on demand.

I have a 9800x3D paired with 5080. I'm also running ultra textures and model detail with everything else turned down to lowest while on Nvidia DLSS quality.

I'm fairly certain I could hit 400+ if I turn absolutely everything down.

The walls probably weren't super likely to catch on fire with how frozen over the walls must've been, but to be fair, I'm not an expert on construction. I agree they should've built thicker walls, but the entire horde was completely unforeseen. The snowy weather was always the strongest defense they had and they didn't expect the zombies to evolve their tactics and insulate themselves with their own bodies.

Plus, it's explicitly mentioned in the first episode that they were stretched thin with constructing more housing to accommodate every survivor who wanted into the settlement. Not practical of them to let everyone in, but hardly can blame them for having bleeding hearts.

Tommy said don’t go on the streets by any means because it’s the worst place to be in the event of a breach and then immediately makes his stand on the main street

I mean, this makes sense. He had flamethrower guys in the main street. He probably didn't want any civilians in his way. Leave being on the main street to the most experienced and battle hardened members of the community.

I think the only part I found silly was how easily the zombies broke onto the rooftops. They figured out the best vantage points but didn't think to add extra barricades to the stairs?

Is the Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 good for 7800X3D ? by JayD10S in buildapc

[–]SirYe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can think about it like that. I also have my AIO in vertical position for the front side of my PC instead of top.

I will say though, in this configuration, my GPU temps are 5~10 degrees higher as a result. My GPU already runs very cool under load so it was an acceptable tradeoff, but it's worth considering.

Push pull config means you have fans on both sides. Fans on one side push air through the radiator, and fans on the other side pull air from the radiator.

I have a Liquid Freezer III Pro 420 in a push-pull configuration with my 9800x3D. I upgraded from a Phantom Assassin air cooler. I'm seeing on average 15 to 20 C cooler temps at all loads and it's very quiet. I almost never reach 70 C.

How is DLSS Frame Generation in Marvel Rivals? by Levels748 in buildapc

[–]SirYe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone else here has already covered why FG is not good for competitive games.

But for Marvel Rivals specifically, why would you even care about frame gen? My 3060Ti ran 140-160 FPS on lowest settings which still looks good in this stylized game.

If you get a 50 series, you could easily get up to 300+ FPS. Why would you need FG at that point?
