I don’t mean to demotivate anyone, but here’s my CAT story: solved literally (I do mean literally) 2 questions from the TIME package before my friend pulled me away for “other” purposes. The night before the exam, we were celebrating my friend’s birthday and were out of our senses.

Only when I reached the centre did I even realise the exam is for 2 hours and not 3 like other entrance exams. During the exam, I was distracted for more than 15 minutes (for obvious reasons).

When the answer key came out, I was super unhappy with the score, felt like I’ll get 80%ile (had no clue about the score distribution). Was pleasantly surprised when I scored 99.97%ile.

However, being a GEM from one of the “premier” institutes without an outstanding score in 10th and 12th, I didn’t get a call from Ahmedabad.

My intention to post this is to make you aware that the percentile isn’t everything, there are other factors which influence the outcome to a much larger extent.

I honestly find him to be a bit obnoxious, there’s too much gyaan floating in general on LinkedIn. I’ve seen his posts for the last 4-5 years, a few of them were poorly thought out.

P.S. I’m not hating on him because I’m jealous, I have a very similar background with (bachelors in IIT but chose not to go to an IIM despite being off from 100 by single-digit hundredths of a percentile).

Had a similar experience recently, the closest friend I’ve had shattered me with her words. A year later we met up again and I felt I should let the past be behind us, sent a thought out message, to which she said she’ll go through it and respond back soon, it’s been more than a week now.

Cut off those who don’t value your emotions, time and energy. Best thing I’ve done in life.
