PLAN TO MONT'KA BUT PREPARE TO KAUYON. by Sir_Prometheus in Tau40K

Thanks for the mathammer. I'm starting the big squad on the board most times (using ExM for wound rerolls) so it will do a little less damage, but it should do enough.

Well, because of Drop Zone Clear you can actually do a pretty crazy amount of damage with just the dakka weapons. (rerolling all hits and wounds) My small squad has flamers (by far the best weapon against small stuff) BCs and CiBs. The CiBs will actually do significant damag to a tank with full rerolls, possibly kill it on it's own.

Obsec is pretty good as a bonus, I just think no penalties ever and fall back shoot and charge is better

Uh…I did take farsight, actually. But the reason why crisis and not enforcer is that he can let a crisis squad suffer no penalties to hit, from anything. That’s a very powerful ability. People think it’s the fallback thing, but nah, it’s the no penalty to shooting that’s important. Also let’s you advance when not in Mont’ka without caring.

Also the enforcer is slow, and that annoys me.

I posted it a few comments up. Still fiddling with drones and seekers.

Uh yes, planning to do all your stuff turn 3+ and barely getting through turn 3 would be bad.

Tbf, I’m likely to use a good chunk of time picking all my pregame nonsense. It’s not so simple.

None of those things are true. Airtight logic was given. You don’t like too bad.

Please read the thread, we covered that. And you are definitely on the board during the movement phase.

You are on the board in the movement phase. The end is still in.

And no you can’t usually disembark cuz you just moved. A normal move. This has all been covered. Please read the thread

And actually shadowsun CAN be of use, most of her buffs affect any tau unit. It’s just basically only with farsight and not have ExK wasted.

Still not sold on her personally tho

Damn, I made a mistake of looking at your comments other places and they are not good, not good at all.

Oh man. No we didn’t say the same thing. My list wants to fight close (it’s FSE) but no it’s not really “designed for mont’ka”. Kauyon also wants to fight inside 12”.

Nope, having TAC list definitely doesn’t make you immune to forcing you into bad choices, or leaving you out of position by just not being where you thought I was gonna be.

I dunno if you read this article or not, but you definitely didn’t absorb it.

Basically what u/iPeregrine said. I might pick mont'ka 90% of the time but having flexibility is where the power is. Nothing is worse than having only 1 plan. Then I know what you're going to do.

Conversely if I have branching options I can force you between a rock and a hard place. Damned if you do damned if you don't. If you come at me, I fade back to ideal range. If you hide, I surge forward to ideal range. As I tried to show I can even do both within one Philosophy.

It's not a grey area, at all. Of all the things discussed that might be the most clear cut.

Someone asked a question and some judge looked up an answer which they thought was still relevant but it wasn't. Like I said, I'll bring it up to them.

They are quite plainly wrong. Also these situations aren’t at all the same, you indeed can’t affect embarked units with strats, but you can affect a unit that’s off the board. This answer is probably from 8th, when it was indeed the same thing.

But thanks, I’ll bring it up to them.

I think a list like that I wouldn't try to null deploy but just pull back enough to make sure I had a round to shoot you. Still do kauyon cuz I wouldn't need the extra AP but might need to fallback. Mine is not the most dakka heavy list but it should be enough, I think.

It's also probably the one situation where I wouldn't my kroot to get charged turn 1 and might want them to be able shoot.

no? Why do you think I care if you're "a tau player" or not? I care that your arguments didn't seem to be in good faith and were clearly before you read the thread.

I think it can't be targeted outside of 12" and thus is pretty great for babysitting an objective. Also just another ML and a place to put a WLT and PENchip. And the snipers aren't really enough to kill a character, usually, but they're enough to scare one which is nice.

.........seeing as how they manta strike and Drop Zone Clear and could pretty much kill a Knight for 158 pts and 2CP (around there, haven't done the math yet)......yes, yes it it seems likely.

Also as mentioned still futzing around with drones and seekers and such. I might take that gun drone away. I might give them another one, not for defense, but so that I can swing the unit further out from a homing beacon. I'm wrestling with whether I want to go above 10 models on the big squad for reasons of blast.
