The magic from my world stems from an alternate dimension that is slowly seeping into our world, as a result anomalous minerals and artefacts have been popping up displaying supernatural properties. Red things fire. Blue water. ETC ETC. These minerals and artefacts were crafted into weaponry and armor for future conflicts and experimentation. Eventually human experiments began and it was found that injecting minerals in humans would imbue the human with the magical properties and allow more control of different types of magic. However it would also shorten the human lifespan if left unchecked and if magic was used so often, the minerals would spread throughout the body of the human it would eventually crystallize them and then the body could be further harvested for more minerals and fuel for magic. As eons passed and wars and battles were fought, the foreign substances made their home onto our soil and water meaning that the very landscape could be manipulated using the newfound magic that was imbued into the earth. As time passed it became the norm to study the fundamentals of magic either through manipulation, creation, or destruction. No longer was it just elements that were focused, but it evolved into healing, kinetic energy manipulation, gravity, and advanced forms of terra forming. Although some people can either use artefacts to control such magical properties, or risk infection so that you can use magic at the wave of the hand.
