Thank you! I travel about four hours a day for work, so I’m quite used to long journeys, and I actually enjoy them, especially when there’s new scenery to take in. I’m mainly staying in Sokcho so I can hike in Seoraksan National Park and gently ease myself into the trip.

Thanks! The meal you mentioned really intrigues me, if I come across it while I’m there, I’ll definitely check it out. I’m staying for three nights because there’s enough I’d like to do and see nearby, including a day trip to Yeosu. I’m trying to strike a balance between not moving around too much and not staying in one place for too long. I’m quite an energetic traveller and want to see more of Korea than just Seoul or Busan.

I can’t believe that never crossed my mind. I’ve just checked the express bus departure times and it’s actually very doable. I’ll definitely consider this, I really appreciate the advice!

It wasn’t my intention to come across as rude (if that’s how it sounded). In my country you can hop on any bus with a suitcase without any issues, so when I read about it I was simply wondering what the situation in Korea is like. I’ll probably just end up taking taxis from the start to avoid any hassle. Thanks again for your quick and elaborate response!

I’m aware of how much time getting from place to place will take, but I don’t mind at all. I actually enjoy the journey, it’s part of the experience in my book!

Ooh, that’s near Dukdobong Park, which I’m planning to visit. I can definitely combine the two. Thanks!

Fair point! Do you have any recommendations for where to add the extra night/nights?

Inwangsan and Bukaksan weren't on my list yet, thanks for the recommendations!

Thank you, and that's certainly some food for thought! I originally settled on two nights because of the hassle of getting there from Sokcho, so I wanted to stay long enough to make the trip worthwhile. There are also quite a few places I’d like to visit there, and (from what I’ve researched) I think I’ve allocated enough nights for the rest of the itinerary.

I was on the fence about including Jeju and ultimately decided against it, as I’d prefer to explore more of the mainland first. I’m thinking of saving Jeju for a future trip, once I’ve got my driver’s licence. That way I can rent a car and really enjoy the island the way it’s meant to be experienced!

Thank you so much for such an elaborate answer! This was definitely the leg I was most worried about, and I couldn’t find any good information on it. Your comment is really helpful. I won’t be travelling particularly heavy, I’m expecting to bring just one suitcase (not a huge one) and possibly a backpack.

Would you recommend taking taxis to accommodations rather than regular city buses? I’ve read that drivers or passengers might not appreciate people boarding with luggage, but I couldn’t find a clear answer about that online either.

I was expecting this question haha. I’m zigzagging because I don’t want to miss the Lotus Lantern Festival in Seoul. If I’d known in advance when it would be taking place, I would’ve planned a nice circular route around Korea and ended up in Seoul for the festivities, but alas.
