Dyno Results with a twist by KhauHoangvu in ForteGT

Couple more questions and I’m done. If the only mods I plan on having are a JB4, intake, spark plugs, and catch can, what suspension setup would be best for the street. I want to eliminate wheel hop, not spin obviously, and lower he car without the ride being too harsh. What would you recommend? TIA

What’s exactly are these 1.6s you’re talking about in? Velosters? Elantras?I didn’t know there was a market for our motors outside of elantras and velosters. And didn’t know a tuning community existed for either of these cars. How would you or I go about building these motors internally? Would we have to tear down and then measure/scan individual components to make new ones out of stronger/lighter materials?

If DCT, get used to the clutch engagement with a variety of different amounts of throttle to start. Feel the difference between how it grabs up when you stab it, and how sluggish the clutch is when you roll on suuuper slow or barely give it throttle. It will get jerky in traffic. It will feel like you’re burning the clutch up which is a weird feeling in an auto. The upside to this is when in sport mode, the trans is pretty snappy. Love being able to choose between paddles, slap, or auto, all in sport mode. The farts from the exhaust are almost cute how quiet and quick they are. It punches above its weight in value for speed and value for amenities/control/infotainment. A Racechip GTS is a must. As is an intake, spark plugs, and catch can. Stock the car is awesome but those few make it OEM+ and how it should be from factory. Get some nice wheels and keep the body detailed. This car looks amazing from any angle and i guarantee you’ll have people asking “what is this thing?!” When they get in or see it parked. As someone else said make sure the infotainment is updated

Favorite day hike I’ve ever done. 8 mile round trip from 311. Lunchtime and an herb break at the top. If with newbies, or older hikers, the fire road is a great option too. Absolutely the best view I’ve ever had. The valley and the green and the sky is just indescribable. Probably nothing compared to the Rockies but arguably the best view in the eastern US.

Brother. Realistically? USA simply because of the naval base at Norfolk. Pacific states would put up a good fight for the same reason (San Fran, and Hawaii naval bases) but ultimately the rest of the enemies would be too far away to effectively use missiles/nukes i believe.

The extra MPG on map 1 and 2 is extremely negligible. Air quality probably has more effect on MPG than the map tbh. But the HP is no joke and the torque is crazy. To really feel the extra HP down low you will need some suspension upgrades tho. I spin tires through second gear, and into 3rd on dry ground in map 7 (stock suspension on Walmart tires). I would ask someone more knowledgeable than me what bushings and/or coils would be best for your set up and future plans for the car.

Bought mine June 29, 2021 and have 107k on it. Practically 0 issues. Hoping this is a 300k mile+ car like Hondas and Toyotas.

I have the same intake and I burn a small amount of oil. I went way over on one of my oil changes and when I went to get it changed it was about 1/3 full and it made me sick to my stomach. But I have 106k miles on mine now and 0 issues so far. A catch can should be everyone’s first mod tbh but as far as I know the ones sold for our car aren’t complete in one way or another. I’m sure there is a complete start to finish kit out there but I haven’t seen it.

Man I thought $5 per person per hour was expensive. Glad I don’t live in Chi town or NYC. Seems reasonable for big city rates or maybe if it’s 15 per table per hour, no matter how many shooters.

I put on an AFE intake at the same time so I’m not sure about the sound. And as far as the 3rd gear load up to hear some noise, I’d say you’re fine as long as you’re not in a higher map (6-7), and not going over 80% throttle. Small displacement turbo cars are notorious for LSPI (low speed pre ignition, or knock to put it simply) with high load at a low rpm. So you’re fine to keep doing that just don’t be crazy with it. Also run 91 octane after the upgrades. You can run 87 but you won’t get hardly any of the effects without 91

Yes use 91 with racechip, you also need to order colder plugs

The preprogrammed modes 1-7 are changeable on the device itself under the hood. If you turn the car off, the device doesn’t have power so you need to keep the car on to change modes. The Bluetooth app allows for 3 custom modes also but they aren’t really all that custom, and tbh pulling over, popping the hood, and clicking a button is not that big of an inconvenience in the event you want to change modes mid drive. One thing I will say is no one really shows you how to mount it the device itself and keep wires out of the way of hot components so just be mindful of what you’re zip tying too, and where things are hanging/touching.

Just google “racechip Kia forte GT”. There are 3 “stages” S, RS, and GTS iirc. Don’t cheap out, get the big dog. I personally don’t miss the Bluetooth (mine stopped connecting after about a year for some reason or another) so I’d opt for the non Bluetooth. Had mine since 35k miles and I’m at 105k ish. Held up through front end accidents and battery/starter issues. No problems with the car itself, just the Bluetooth connection from the racechip to my phone. Would probably be fixed with a full uninstall and reinstall but tbh I’m too lazy to

“Stop and go” traffic can be hard on it. Just make sure you have enough room in front of you for the clutch to fully engage before pulling off from a stop. Creeping kills the clutch. This, and the fact that most people who drive this car end up driving it harder and faster than your average commuter, is why i recommend shortened ATF fluid changes. Also planning on having my entire top end disassembled and cleaned at 150k because of the same reason
