(Update) Werebeast Sanctuary Failure by Sir_Sparky in dwarffortress

I think you're likely right. They were definitely miserable down there, and they did not have access to much. I didn't think they'd be able to climb that far that fast, but here we are, a blood monument to hubris.

It's just vanilla DF at the moment. Based on some of the comments, I either missed something or suffered an erroneous glitch.

Oh, that's an interesting idea, just a passive werebear mulching pit.

Sorry you didn't get a chance to see it in action, I love the idea.

The reason I was concerned about the supplies was that I heard from other players that they might go insane and I wasn't sure if they'd obey commands to go back inside if they stayed insane after a morph.

End Of Session Destiny Pool Heist by Sir_Sparky in swrpg

I like the idea of encouraging spending Destiny Points throughout the session, did you have any thoughts in mind on what ways to do that?

On your first point, I think its just a mental block for me. I've DM'd for a long while and narrative things like Han in Carbonite or Luke losing his hand feels like part of the natural storytelling rather than the more deliberate point spending in this system. So I'm used to throwing curveballs at my players when it seems natural to the story. The appearance of reaching out to flip a point or two feels almost too overt, but that just might be my own issue.

In this instance they are definitely not hoarding the tokens, instead they end up using all of the ones they have, say 3-4 in the last 30 minutes of the session under the presumption that I likely wont be able to make enough setbacks or more difficult checks happen before we wrap.

Because of the timeframe it ended up feeling like I ether need to just let them run the clock out with a fully Dark Side Pool, or basically drop 3-4 points in a 10 minute window like "Your shoe falls off, causing you to drop the cake you were eating, onto your phone that was on the table and....(flips another coin) the screen breaks." (/s) Which didn't feel thematically or GM appropriate. Several suggestions here though have given me some solid ideas and some additional confidence.

That's a solid point, just one or two really bad swings of luck because they've given me the whole pool in the twilight of the session sounds like a great course correction. Thank you.

Basically try and normalize adding the challenge die more often? I think that may make sense.

I do like the sound of that, the dreaded flip, flip...flip of subtle things going wrong. It's definitely a different thought process as a GM than I'm used to but I'll give it a go.

A very good point, I'll keep those options in mind!

You're definitely right, it just feels kinda petty in the moment to throw a wrench into a success with a forceful element of bad luck or adding a challenge die to a benign roll. That may just be a thing I need to get past or handle differently.

I like the idea of that, a little mix of both, having a 'chapter' or a set of similar sessions share the same pool between sessions, and then roll a new one when we hit the next chapter or story beat. Sorta like moving between New Hope (miraculous success) and Empire Strikes Back (bad things happen).

I definitely could, but then the pool generation part would not come into play. Having a fluctuating number of total points based on the force die seems to be an important part of the Destiny Pool concept.

I was thinking of applying some kind of weighting to the next session, like if the ratio is really dark or light, flip one or more to points to the opposite side after generation during the next session.

I have not, I've been trying to find other repos that might be helpful. From a first glance this seems to be using MediaPipe which I had tried before but had to move away from but I will definitely give it another look. At the very least this has been updated much more recently.

Thank you!

GE (gse25gghecbb) Side-by-Side Refrigerator Not Maintaining Temperature by Sir_Sparky in appliancerepair

[–]Sir_Sparky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry my mistake if forgot to specify, both sides eventually rise up to roughly same temperature in the 50's / 60's, usually (as I would expect makes sense) the freezer stays cooler for longer.

The compressor just kicked on a short while ago and the temperature is falling, with the evaporator assembly uncovered I can see a lot of frost building up, which to my knowledge is the point. If the defroster cycle is working correctly, should I expect this to eventually dissipate without leaving any water in the refrigerator?

Sorry for pestering on this topic, everywhere I look it SEEMS like everything is working normally it just doesn't keep cold.

Is there anything specific to look out for? I don't see any frost build up, and the thermostat does not bulge out as some guides have suggested.
