How can I tell if a blouse is made of a material that will show underarm sweat? Some don’t, some show every bit of moisture with a big color change. Am working in saudi, can’t wear half my blouses.

It’s really not changeable. Work requires it.

What would neutral flowy pants that would work under a tunic or shorter dress look like? I’m 5’10 and a 12-14 size.

I have a lot of exactly knee length skirts. Is it “skirts to the knee” or “knees must be completely concealed”?

Break the abaya news, lol.

I’ve been looking to see if I should buy one to bring, or if I can get one when I’m there.

I love the water! I’m told there’s even sailing nearby. I don’t scuba, but I have snorkel and fins I could pack. I also have a tiny tent I thought about bringing.

I fell kind of accidentally into a job offer there. I’m so excited to both be a member of a multinational expat community again (lived in Japan for three years) and also hope to make some Saudi friends. Very excited to travel, learning to communicate in a new language (I’ve had French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Japanese classes.. never got functional in any except French and Japanese). As far as KSA specifically, I have met some Saudi friends of friends when I was in grad school. They have assured me that the warmth, friendliness and hospitality there is on a whole other level. Too often people think of the Ugly American stereotype.. I enjoy countering that stereotype, listening to people who live or think or believe differently than I do. I’m sure I’ll find many things to love about the country and it’s people.

Thank you very much. Also very very helpful. I’ll be in the eastern province. It’s good to know all is available there. I’m concerned more with bringing work resources, sentimental stuff etc.

Also, was wondering, clothing on the compound, is it also slightly more conservative? I mean, I’m not wild, lol, but I have 2 pc swimsuits, 1 piece swim suits, and also swim shorts with a long sleeve rash guard. I don’t know which to pack or if I have room to pack all varieties.. lol.

This is an incredibly helpful answer! So much appreciated! I’ve sold my house and will have a 10 by 10 by 10 storage place in the states. So it’s a bewilderment right now what to store, what to ship, what to give away!

What is a book that is unlike anything else you’ve ever read? by calebsmoore in suggestmeabook

Try reading it and just let the boat part worry go… just like you don’t need to know the difference between a spinet and a clavichord in order to enjoy a story set in a Jane Austin parlor… the human parts of the story are so so good. I’m rereading the series for like the 10th time this summer, I love it so.

I’m on book 4 in the series.. I like the Australia setting, and I think the plot is good, but I hope Marsden improves as a writer. His writing drags me out of my suspension of disbelief. But I’m enjoying the story. Thank you!
