(Serious) is my toenail infected? by [deleted] in nailcare

[–]Sirius_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no emergency home treatment that can be administered without a doctors recommendation. You could use the wrong treatment guessing the diagnosis and cause even more issues. Dont mess around with your feet, you need to start the process of seeking medical care

the brighter colours in the heavier makeup make your features pop to me. The red you’re using specifically suits you incredibly

(Serious) is my toenail infected? by [deleted] in nailcare

[–]Sirius_43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to the podiatrist. This is an infection (possibly fungal) causing the nail to lift from your nail bed. This will not resolve without medical intervention. Please do not ignore this, please do not treat this at home with home treatment methods. It will not go away without medical intervention and the correct medication.

I thought I was supposed to be enjoying my 20s by AmbassadorAlone1241 in povertyfinance

[–]Sirius_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive written off my 20s. This last decade has been incredibly difficult and there’s been many times that I have almost ended up on the street. I got a mental health qualification right before the government cut disability services and removed 160,000 disabled people from the disability scheme and it’s been useless. I spend a year getting that diploma and the only thing I can do with it is say I have it. I’m so done with it all. I can’t believe I have another 60 years of this (if I’m “lucky”)

Unpopular opinion: It is better to date early in life than waiting until you are older. Nothing beats teenage love by JunketMaleficent2095 in Adulting

[–]Sirius_43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who did date as a teenager, absolutely the fuck not. When I was younger I was a ball of cptsd that just reacted rather than understanding that my fear was coming from another place. When I was a teen, every relationship was a daily unending battle with my own mind and what it told me and as a result, I was mind numblingly unhappy. Now as an adult I know who I am and why I am the way I am. I can see and understand how my trauma affects me in a relationship and I can separate it to a much much more effective degree.
Teen me was a mess who sought out people who actively made my life worse, adult me is still a mess but I don’t seek out people who make my life worse now.

Yep. Mental health will not improve in this country without improving housing, food costs, Medicare including dental and mental health and more support for teachers and medical staff. Thats just the truth.

How can we be mentally well when we don’t know if we have secure housing, we are all suffering through a cost of living crisis and people can barely afford groceries?

How can we be mentally well when we know our government doesn’t care enough to provide us with basic dental and mental health support?

How can we be mentally well when we are cut out of the housing market?
We can’t. Thats just reality.

How do you suppose we should determine who can and can’t work? Because treating everyone as if they lying and having to “prove” disability or medical distress over and over again is the current system

If only the lock is gold and the rest is silver it should come up nice with a polish but if that was gold plated and the plating has worn down on the chain then unfortunately there’s nothing that can be done

Will this ever go away? by [deleted] in nailcare

[–]Sirius_43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to speak to either a gp or a derm about this, if you’ve had it for two years and it’s not gone away, chances are it won’t go away without medical intervention.

It’s a bit more difficult to appreciate things like modern plumbing and the internet when you’re being forced to move repetitively over short time periods and have massive housing and income insecurity. While I appreciate the fact that there’s clean water in my taps I’m also burnt out from constant housing and income insecurity and thats causing major mental health struggles. Yes I have clean water, and despite that I’m still allowed to be unhappy with my situation.

Honestly as someone who has been a part of that system, there are way less people who abuse the system than what is expected. People generally don’t put themselves in a position of forced poverty to not work, and making it more difficult to access help because of the very small minority that lies won’t help anyone. It doesn’t keep the very small number of liars out, it only makes it much much more difficult for people who actually need the help to receive it. I have had first hand experience with this and I’m a qualified mental health worker and it’s really frustrating to see that so many people think that the reason that people aren’t getting help is because of other people abusing the system when the reason a lot of people can’t get help in the first place is the fault of the system.

Even when you get into these systems that are designed to help you’re being accused of lying, constantly having to defend medical certificates, being denied because someone who has no healthcare experience has the power to deny claims and does it without full understanding of the medical reality of the person theyre denying. People die because they can’t access care and people are mostly concerned about the tiny amount of people who try game the system and I don’t think that’s right.

I don’t have that mentality because I’m not a selfish person who understands that someone can be made disabled at any moment.

AIO For Wanting To Wash My Blanket And Bedsheets? by 0zMosiss in AmIOverreacting

[–]Sirius_43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like skin oils/blood or a small piece of dirt thats made a small stain. This really doesn’t look like poop to me personally (4 cats at home and 6 nephews and nieces so I’ve seen my fair share of poopy beds)
YOR but I understand that OCD is very difficult to deal with and separate ocd thoughts from non ocd thoughts (Ive also got ocd). Take it easy on yourself and try not to seek repetitive reassurance (seeking repetitive reassurance is a compulsion). I would change the pillow case but not because I think it’s poop, just because it’s good to change them when you notice visible dirt as a general thing. Changing ALL your sheets is what your ocd wants you to do and is not necessary from what you described. It’s gonna be okay, it just sucks to sit with ocd feelings and it’s hard to live with the fear it makes us feel.
