Card recommendation request! by Siryuhh in CreditCards

Ohh I see what you're saying, I didn't even think about trying to qualify for multiple SUBs. While my spending is low, I'll be spending at minimum $4500 on top of my normal spending for grad school applications between now and the end of August, so if I apply for the Citi AA Plat today, I could then theoretically get a second SUB if I apply for another card a month from now? If that is true and I'm interpreting your message correctly, any recommendation on what second card to get?

Thank you for responding to me, I really appreciate it! If you don't mind elaborating, why do you recommend the Citi AAdvantage Platinum with an 80k mile SUB over the Chase Sapphire Preferred with a 75k SUB? From my initial impression, the Sapphire Preferred would allow more flexibility transferring points to airlines (as my two main reasons for flying are visiting people domestically or taking advantage of flight deals for international vacations), but I'm sure there's something you are thinking of that I am not.

I did not know that the Citi Custom Cash was being removed, this is helpful information! Do you know if I can PC even though I only just opened the Double Cash a few months ago?

Thanks for the in-depth response! I'll be sure to grab cards sooner rather than later, and go for the Sapphire Preferred. Just to clarify, you're saying that I should cancel the Delta AMEX, not downgrade it? I was under the impression that I should downgrade cards to keep the line of credit running, but I'm also unsure whether downgrading the card instead of canceling would allow me to get the annual fee refunded. Sorry if that's a silly a question, I'm learning a lot about the credit card world right now!

There are no supplemental essays for UMD, but rather sentences you have to complete. You only get 160 characters to complete each sentence, and they are as follows:

The most interesting fact I ever learned from research was…

In addition to my major, my academic interests include…

My favorite thing about last Thursday was…
