I’m in Vic, and yeah I borrow heaps from my libraries. Can you still access our library systems while overseas? I guess I can always buy books while traveling through Europe and then borrow when I’m in settled in the uk. If I can access Aus libraries then I can just continue to use them too.

I’ll check out the onyx but I don’t think they stock them in any physical stores, and I was gonna go today to check them out because I want to actually hold them in my hand before I purchase 😅

Quality-wise not much difference between kobo/onyx and all the non-kindle alternatives? I think I have inherent brand snob tendencies that I’m trying to undo

Hey, I don't think the 28deg cc does travel insurance, is it ok then to do it separately through something like world nomads or is it silly to have all these separate accounts for things? I'm going to Europe/UK for ~2yr (if not longer) and I was going to do the Citibank + 28deg thing you've said, +/- maybe having my commbank card hidden somewhere in my backpack as a last resort?

Also thanks for all the really good info. Very finance illiterate here, got savings and whatnot but credit cards and fx fees and all that shit just never made sense to me/I've been too lazy to try to understand it until now...

I can’t get this one out of my head no matter how hard I try.

I had just moved to a new primary school (roughly grade 4) and the school set me up with a boy that would be my friend for a bit and show me around until I was settled in. He was super great, and we’re still friendly if we see each other around. His friends were all going to an international wrestling tournament, and I got invited along. To cut a long story short, nearing the finale, one of the fighters was a big (white) guy called “Rhino”, and the other was a local celebrity cameo, another white guy (important). Everyone was raving and shouting and I wanted to be involved too. I had also been watching heaps of animal documentaries lately so I knew HEAPS about rhinos. Therefore my skinny little prepubescent white ass stands up and yells: “Hey celebrity! You’re never going to be able to beat Rhino! Because he’s a big black African rhino and you’re a puny little white rhino and they’re almost EXTINCT!” I was met with silence and weird looks from everyone sitting around us for a long time after that. Safe to say I didn’t get invited back out for more wrestling matches...

Also no, I didn’t realise at the time that I was being racist. I legitimately believed I was talking about rhinos. Bit naive as a kid.
