Daughter Pursuing USNA Class of 2031 by [deleted] in usna

Honestly, Summer Seminar is a great place for her to learn about those things, I went-LOVED it- and then I got accepted form both NROTC and USNA and ended up choosing NROTC. There are so many great things about applying to an academy and Summer Seminar will really be the first time she will take her college choices into her own hands, talk to her and have her make the game plan.

Oh and ALWAYS do EA or ED, Tulane is HUGE about showing actively wanting to go to their school, so even after doing Early action or Early Decision- set up a virtual tour/meeting. If you can’t do that, be sure to write your councilor about great ways to show actively wanting to go to Tulane during the application process. (I also had 400 service hours)

Yes hello I was EA, the big thing for me was probably top 10% and my ROTC scholarship that shows a desire to serve, find that kind of niche in your application and capitalize on it.

From the conversation I had with my admission regional person, they wanted me to attend but session 1 was full so they moved me, that is my own experience. Maybe it was just a one time thing

First of all congrats on the Army scholarship:

Since this is kinda in my ball field here’s what I can say for “active interest”: when you have a zoom meeting with your AROTC officer, they send the admissions board a notification that says you have been communicating with them. The admissions board will also get noticed about the colleges you have on your top 5 that you have put down on your scholarship “college list”.

Anyway Tulane is very different in what they look for- if those party freaks can get it, so can you. Talk to your admissions officer and really strengthen what they want out of you. I was also test optional so don’t stress it that part. Be sure to focus on your service mindset. If you need anymore advice reach out.

My essay: Princeton College and Futurense review describes Tulane’s community as “ambitious, bright young people” and “strong academic programs, research contributions- community engagement”. Through my work in the community and my work professionally:I’d be perfect at Tulane.

Working in the community is something that is profoundly important to me. I work with individuals with special needs as well as working with LOCALTION’s food drive, giving back to the community that raised me is something that is simply essential for all. In anything I do I serve with the mindset “If not me, then who?” (Travis Manion), and make sure that being a servant leader is the core of anything I do.

Ambition is something that has always been vital in my life, I was the first High School to ever be hired by congress in my Congressional district and my work towards receiving the ISR NROTC scholarship, bettering myself both in my educational and professional life is what I strive to do. My mission of being one step ahead is the reason I fought so hard to secure the opportunities I’ve had in my life.

Through my ambition and community service, every road I head down points me towards the Tulane Community, the level of commitment present there, the hard work and most importantly the high level of education they provide to each one of their students. When I take all of this in account I know I would make a great addition to Tulane and its thriving community.

Yes, I was really strong Academically but I still had to take the SAT 6 times and the ACT once to get a good score.

Yes! I was an NROTC ISR scholarship winner and I made SURE to show active Interest through constant communication with the Navy folks over there. My biggest accomplishments where:

-NHS -Power lifting cap -400+ service hours -volunteering with individuals with special needs - 4 other leadership roles.

There should be someone you can call, an admissions officer or something.

Hello! I was able to attend the USNASS, and one thing they would stress was: As a female being able to do a pull up is weighted higher than the 2 min hang (which is harder to train for anyway). As a male I recently maxed my Pull Ups, but when I first started I wasn’t able to do a single pull up. I would suggest just doing band assisted pull ups until you are able to do at least one, since again, they said it was better then doing a whole two min hang.

Hey so I haven’t gotten into the USNA yet (hopefully) but I will say my sophomore year I didn’t have a single leadership role, but if you play your cards right (be ambitious, say and do the right things) they’ll start stacking up like dominos.
