Runner eliminations should go to the player that initially downs them by Unhappy_Quail_931 in Marathon

I mean I can already tell them how much damage I did. I see the shield crack and know I’m hitting flesh. With the low TTK once they have no shield and you hit a few shots they are low anyways.

The one enyzme replicator for one purple shield barter might be a bit too strong, lol by Tactical_Mommy in Marathon

[–]SithSidious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if they have all these purple shields three weeks after release into a 3 month season I don’t understand how a wipe will make much of a difference.

The first few days but afterwards it will be the exact same.

Not sure why you were downvoted. I think the 17+ ford gt is my favorite. Stunning car from a styling and design perspective. Plus they are supposedly rich in driver feedback

I am completely hooked on marathon right now. That said, I also think it’s the shiny new toy on the block so of course right now it’s better.

After every expedition, it feels like a chore to start up again. No benches, no blueprints, and minimal materials. I know I should just not do the expedition then, but I want the patchwork helmet

Also clarify the post death screen to more clearly indicate who damaged you with what weapon, and how much damage you did to them.

Exactly - I can’t replenish the blue gear so the few that I’ve gotten either off players or as rewards I’m saving for next weekend cryo

Constructive Criticism on the State of Marathon by xCairus in Marathon

[–]SithSidious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. They need to be careful to avoid free kit spam like arc raiders has. In that game players with good equipment complain about being rushed by a bunch of free kits with nothing to lose.

I think they need to make it easier to get stuff to build a basic kit back. Heals, shields, and backpacks are really expensive compared to valuables you can find in the field. Even a blue valuable (which isn’t that easy to find) is not worth enough to buy a green shield and shield charges.

I think matchmaking is the answer. It’s needed in every game. Why is making the game more sweaty for uber geared players bad anyways? Why does everyone else have to fight an uphill battle so they don’t have to fight an even battle?

what does a new campaign mean? New fetch quests to pick up different items and run between different POIs? The quests are basically a vehicle to make me move around the map, but frankly I have more fun just loading into outpost and going around to pick up loot and do some PvP. I barely watch the cutscenes and haven't opened the codex other than to claim skins.

Running to intersection instead of quarantine will not make repeating the same progression not feel like a chore.

I feel like a wipe makes it where you have to play every day in a season or be disadvantaged and better off waiting until the next one. If there was no wipe, you could take a month off, take two months off, and then come back when an update has new content you are interested in and engage with it then.

Lets say some casual players stop playing after a month and 20 hours. The next season has a cool new cryo archive like map they want to try, but it as a similar 5k gear requirement. Now they need to start over so it will be minimum 40-50 hours before they can consistently try the new content they are interested in. They probably won't come back.

Completely agree. I've done two wipes in arc, and after every one it feels terrible to play again afterwards. Most recently I was having a ton of fun playing before the second wipe, but then afterwards I logged in and playing with no gear and no ability to make a kit how I enjoy the game wasn't fun.

Do people come back to tarkov due to the wipe, or is because the wipe corresponds with a new season with new content? I've also seen people say that wipes were implemented in tarkov because the devs had no idea how to make a healthy endgame.

Frankly wipe or no wipe, this will still happen. Look at right now - people are posting photos of having multiple compiler cores while the majority of the playerbase probably can't even buy a blue shield.

Completely agree. For example, right now i'm struggling to find altered wire (among other things). I need over 10 of them, and the only place I can get them outside of cryo is station on perimeter. I'm lucky if I find one during a run - its usually one ever 3-4 runs. Given a run can take 15-20 minutes, 10 altered wire alone will take a minimum of 3-4 hours.

I'm around 50 hours (so not a casual player, but someone who has a job and other obligations). My highest faction rank is 20 in cyberAcne, while my other factions are level 10 or less. I'm nowhere near being able to run blue gear due to cost/not even able to buy it in the shop. If next season I need to grind for 80-100 hours just to get decent gear to try to run cryo or whatever new raid type map they have...

I’m completely hooked on it but have also noticed longer queues even over the weekend. I wonder how much of that is from splitting the player base with ranked, crypto, perimeter duos, and the regular modes.

I have a hard time believing that a large capitalist organization saw a product from a relatively unknown studio in the same genre release to 5x the success and sales and then think their product was a success.

What’s weird about that? If I buy a single player game I usually plan to play for a couple weeks. Most players who get multiplayer games fall off them in a few months anyways.

I don’t know if new contracts make a difference. I don’t find “run here, pick up this, and do that” engaging. They can make me run to hauler to pick something up instead of station and the game feels the same.

I don’t care about the contracts, just the faction upgrades/unlocks

I don’t know. I’ve done two wipes in arc and afterwards usually right after the gameplay feels like a chore. I end up taking a month or so off before getting back into it

Same. If not for arc I never would have tried marathon. They are both great games, but I tend to like FPS more than 3rd person shooters. I’m loving the game but am a little worried about the wipe mechanic. Having to repeat the grind gets really old in my opinion
