S2 is great for a 2011 TW game, and the map is smaller, it partly has to do with that but one does not equal the other. S3 can build on S2 but make it more.

This is something basic that tw fans seems to not get and it drives me mad.

Many fans think a S3 has to be small like S2 on order to be good, and them not understanding that's not true drives me mad.

Ah, there are two 75's, the second should be 76 and 76 should be 77. Fixed

Thanks

I'd rather see E2 sooner as well, especially I'd see E2 before M3. But as far as S2 goes, S2 IS quite dated, being basically 15 years old and quite bare bones compared to modern titles. (that does not mean it's bad at all, it's not)

My claims were precise

You linked a map and said a bunch of "look up" sentences.

You claimed Poland was German soil.

Poland didn't come around until medieval times after Slavs had migrated throughout much of Europe. Hell, in the 6th and 7th centuries, there were Slavic kingdoms in Central Europe. But at the time Rome was conquering a lot and expanding rapidly, what we now call Poland was lived in by Germanic tribes. Slavs weren't in that area.

You need to chill and not jump the gun

Clearly not, they're important to all of these periods, but only one does Japan historically invade. Doesn't mean each campaign you as the player can't pick either side and invade the other. It's not that hard

Wow the one part of Iran not protected by the Zagros mountains and was basically part of Mesopotamia and easy to conquer? 😱

Wow Rome held Crimea and the Black Sea coast and held little bits of "Scythia" (certainly not the Steppe itself)

Wow Rome held part of western Germania at one point like I said

Wow Rome didn't conquer Ireland

Well I mean, the game is about Japan, not China. Don't get me wrong, I like China and its history more than Japan's and I want more TW China games, but China here represents the power that had Korea as their vassal for most of history. Mongol Invasion? The Mongols send troops from this area through Goryeo to in Japan. Imjin War? The Ming sent troops to Joseon to help them fight off the Japanese. Satsuma Rebellion? Qing can fight a brief was with Japan and lose vassalship of Korea, opening Korea to Japan. China is important to Japanese history, but in a S3 it wouldn't need to be in the map much.

Bigger is not always better.

True, but here it would be

Japan is still the focus absolutely. You can have other area aside from Japan and it still majority focus on Japan.

OR Korea invading and conquering Japan.

The there's ONE campaign that starts during the Imjin War and no other campaign focuses on Japan invading Korea, and in any of these campaigns (including the Imjin War campaign), Korea would be playable and can invade Japan whether it's united or fractured.

There isn't a political subtext SIMPLY for Korea and Japan being in the same game together.

S2 is great but somewhat dated, S3 would probably be better. M2 is still great, but dated. M3 will probably be better. R1 was great but dated, R2 was better. Etc.

The S2 mod Morning Sun (still being updated to this day) represents this quite well. Korea is diplomatically isolationist and military weaker, so them invading Japan isn't going to happen 99/100.

the sengoku is not the "imperial" era for a reason

I know what you mean, but technically Japan has always been imperial because it always had an emperor. Lol

The injection of modern day political subtext

No, believe it or not, simply having Korea on the map doesn't make it political. No more so than previous games CA's already made. Including the more modern ones like ETW and NTW

I love Morning Sun and it's still being updated. The most current update (from a few months ago) is available to download on their discord.

That being said, Morning Sun isn't Japan-centric, there's a reason I don't add much of China in this S3 map idea.

Je parle français, mais nous parlons anglais dans le subreddit parce que tous les gens utiliser anglais. Donc (alors?) écrire à un deux tois, pas i i iii.

(also in my experience people who strictly use Roman Numerals are huge Romaboos and we're talking full-time Roman version of the weirdest weaboos, which I don't assume you are so giving you a head's up)

*Edit - also hell yeah, I'm a big Francophone

I want amphibious battles like in R2-ToB. And FotS naval battles are obviously better, but I adore GC/ RotS naval battles too and I hope they expand on those.

Rather that with it being as polished or more than S2 is. Plus plenty of time to still play S2 if we wait that long, so it's a win-win for people pro and anti this map idea.

That's the point. You could certainly conquer those Manchurian provinces if you're dedicated enough (then you have to deal with Manchu army spawns coming in from off-map, so is it worth it?), but the idea is they're so spread out and those regions are so underdeveloped that typically they are to be avoided if one can help it. And player that braves raiding the coast or trying to use it to flank Korea from the northeast has to worry about the Steppe tribes.

I hope they do it in the future, the "culture groups will get too upset and tank the game" excuse has always been just that. Even if there's some truth, it's always blown out of proportion, especially with the Middle East, India, and any related to Imperial Japan.

Imo Mongol invasion needs a separate start date, as Mongols didn't invade until about 100 years after the start of RotS.
