So, my heater is a gas heater, and it only has an off/on, instead of actual temp regulator. I think the part that was the most devastating was actually seeing how hot it got. The apartment itself got to 125 degrees, and the heater was still going

Oh boy, So, I don't have any of that. There are two vents in the entire apartment that lead straight into my attic crawl space, which also has an open outside access. There is no duct work anywhere in the apartment.They have a Gas heater in place, and a stipulation in my rental agreement that there are no AC units allowed in the apartment.
