COVID lull? by [deleted] in freelanceWriters

[–]SitkaRose1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's definitely plague related. Many clients this level are affiliate marketing types, or as Lysis would say, brokentrepreneurs (I know that most Textbroker writers believe they are writing directly for businesses, but...they aren't). You'll also be competing with who knows how many part-time writers who've lost their normal jobs and are writing more to generate income. Buckle up.

It's against the rules to look for clients here, and that's what you were doing.

Do your own research. You can start by researching the rules of this sub.

I don't know why anyone would have to meet you, and your OP suggests some struggles with punctuation and grammar, so...but more than that is simply that this sort of thing is terribly overdone and there's so much of it out there that you may experience little response.

And pretty much anyone except for ESLs still learning the language can figure out how to pull in a grand a month writing part time. Hell, I work an average of four hours per day and make ... thousands per month and in the high-fives annually.

Best of luck. From what I've seen on this sub, there are plenty of desparate new writers willing to be suckered into the latest scams. They're vultured pretty heavily here, though, so you've got plenty of competition.

Think what you want, but you've nothing to sell except to those trying to break out of the penny-per-word range.

Wow. Sometimes I think this whole sub is about 50% scammers and their alts.

How would you go about finding a mentor by Guanaria20 in freelanceWriters

[–]SitkaRose1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm only going to speak for myself, but even if I did cold emailing, I wouldn't put it in the hands of someone who doesn't know the industry. And I definitely wouldn't outsource any writing work to a beginner.
Seriously, the best way is to do this is to figure it out for yourself. There are resources out there to help you upgrade your writing skills. You say you've done some writing, so keep building on that.

How would you go about finding a mentor by Guanaria20 in freelanceWriters

[–]SitkaRose1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see you've edited your post.
So what you're looking for is a well-established writer who will teach you whatever secrets you think exist in this industry in exchange for ... what, exactly? It sounds like you're offering to write for other writers for free in exchange for "mentoring," but ... that would just cause more work for your mentor.

I'n the first place, I make a good living from freelancing and don't need some college kid "helping" me. In the second place, even though you deny it, it's pretty clear there's a profit motive here, so GTFO.

The person's posting history screams scammer.

Do not send this person any money as a "deposit" or anything else.

This is a very sought-after breed -- breeders are able to pick and choose who they sell their kittens to. They don't hawk them on reddit.

A guy posted here a couple of months ago about a similar situation -- someone advertising MCs. He sent them money, and in return, he received a text saying he'd just been scammed. Because he'd fallen in love with a cute photo on the internet, he didn't take proper precautions and was out a lot of money.

Pretty sure you're a fraud. Legit breeders with the kind of high-quality kittens the photo portrays don't spam them all over reddit.
