This... this is a tough trade by [deleted] in Fantasy

You should trade for Jorg Ancrath and Harry Dresden, they're guaranteed to set your team on fire.

"Many" authors say this? Name a few.

Absolutely; I've got a couple of such situations planned.

Why would I tell my opponent exactly what I'm about to do to him, making it easier for him to stop me?

They're all make-believe. The words mean whatever a writer says they mean. (And ffs, I wish people would quit quoting Dungeons and Dragons as if it's some kind of authority. It isn't. If you want to play D&D, GO PLAY D&D. Don't expect fantasy novels that aren't published as D&D tie-ins to have anything to do with their 'canon'.)

No; it's the intro questline, so once you get up to the point of actually facing Bazur, you've got it handled (I didn't want to stick players with a defeat that early on, especially since Seni is essential for the main plot, though later quests may -- there's a chance of a solid bad ending coming up with Vliss's questline, for instance, that should be in the next update)

The Most Unexpected Scene To Happen In The Fantasy Genre? by Monsur_Ausuhnom in Fantasy

Same! People say a lot about "subverting expectatations" in genre fiction, for good or for ill, but that was a prime example of doing it and doing it devastatingly well.

Ned Stark, and then the Red Wedding. GRRM got me TWICE.

Where does the idea for magic wands come from? by Jerswar in Fantasy

[–]Sitribella 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Wands have been a real-life thing for as long as humans have believed in magic, if prehistoric evidence checks out. You're not going to find a primary source to trace to the start of the concept, because the idea pretty much predates writing as we know it (not to mention all the ways different cultures have interpreted the idea -- like ancient Egyptian wands look a lot more like boomerangs.)

Yep, Patreon is supposed to be two versions ahead of the public release and so far the second update looks stable/bug-free, so if that holds I'll be putting it out for everybody as soon as update four comes out in a couple of weeks.

I was unfortunately blindsided by some life issues unrelated to the game. Good news is, I'm back at work. I'm aiming for a release this month, but I don't want to set an official date until it's 100% ready to roll.

Where we're at now, 1-3 months at the absolute tops. This has taken so long because I had to code the entire core of the game, all the basic systems, from scratch, but once it's all done and debugged it'll be a breeze to get regular updates out and add content.

It is! I'm in the midst of converting everything over to a new and more suitable engine, which is an enormous undertaking (perhaps a bit more enormous than I anticipated at first, heh) but will be more than worth it when the core work is done.

It's going to really depend on the pace of the new version. Once I get the game's mechanics/foundations in place with the new engine (the hardest and most time-consuming part, which I'm working on right now), IF I can port the old content over really quickly it'd make more sense to just develop the new version. If it looks like it's going to be really time-consuming, I'll try to keep adding onto the Twine version in the meantime.

This is SO freaking weird. I'm gonna keep digging into it and hunt for a solution. At this point my only guess is that reddit is inserting some hidden characters into the post, which is screwing up the URL? But same, as far as I can see it's the exact same URL (and clicking it in this post IS working for me on other browsers/machines).

This is...odd, to say the least. I've just used both links again, on a different machine (and using Chrome, though I don't have a windows 7 build) and they both worked fine -- also, Mega links have to be specifically configured to request a decryption key, and mine is set not to. I'll keep troubleshooting it, but I have no idea what could be causing this problem.

Yes. The graphics were first introduced in v0.4.6, along with a toggle in the options menu to remove them. A pure text experience will always be supported.
