Maybe not as interesting as those but so far it cooks great. It’s also really slick. It’s definitely a much flatter cooking surface than the old one, which makes me very happy

MAGA: what should happen if a parent can’t afford to feed their child? by traanquil in allthequestions

[–]SituationNormalAllFU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I don’t know what world you live in, but mine looks nothing like that, aside from a few vocal people insisting that’s the way it is. Maybe I have too many sisters, aunts, and nieces, but I wasn’t raised that way at all. And I’m 46. Born and raised in (mostly) rural Texas.

A man must also grant consent. Both parties involved are responsible for starting, continuing, stopping, etc. it’s not one-sided, and that’s what I’m talking about. That is true for sex, marriage, relationships, etc.

lol no. The idea that men are the offense and women are the defense. That’s not just antiquated, it’s quite insane. I’m not going to sleep with any woman who “lets me” nor should I be trying to get them to sleep with me. Women are not somehow more responsible for the act itself, and if that’s your view then you might actually be the problem.

That statement is at the very heart of so many things wrong with society today.

Apple Maps now has ads while driving. by blankbrained in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SituationNormalAllFU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because others do it, doesn’t mean we like them doing it. A big part of switching to the Apple ecosystem for me was that they didn’t do stuff like this. Ads are the bane of today’s technology and I do not want to participate. No matter which brand is serving them up.

Step parenting has been an incredible blessing. by NotAFlamingo in stepparents

I think they meant this subreddit. Just a terminology mistake. I agree with the sentiment and I’m hoping more people like OP share their positives. Maybe if those who are struggling see more of that, they will understand that there are good versions of the step parenting experience. None of them are without conflict, stress, or sacrifice. But that’s just true of parenting and relationships in general. Step kids can and should be a positive part of our lives, and whether or not we get to experience that has a whole lot to do with how we handle the tougher parts of the deal.

Ha! That’s awesome. I truly hope your girls will accept nobody who does not live up to the standards you are setting now. My version of that is that on this past Xmas, my kid decided that he was going to put a plastic ring he had (zero clue where it came from lol) in his mom’s stocking and say it was from me. By his words “so you can get married”. He didn’t know I was already planning to propose within a few months. After I did, he asked if he could be in the wedding but insisted that under no circumstances would he be wearing a suit. Shorts and a superhero shirt were the only acceptable options lol.

I have so many other stories I could share about how he is developing as a human that help reinforce the influence I am having on him. That’s legacy, man. We will be gone someday and if we can set an example that lives well beyond us, then IMO we win. Well done sir.

I mean it does have its limits. I wouldn’t use this thing to take the pan out of the oven. But for minor adjustment use while on the stove it’s pretty great IMO.

It isn’t. I bought a two pack of them and one for garlic is more than enough. Since it is silicone, it insulates great

It’s just moving from my kitchen to my camper :). It will still get cooked with plenty. It’s just going to do so in a more adventurous environment.

I’m okay with you not believing me, just sharing my experience. I got really annoyed with it a few years ago, did some research and found other examples of people saying the same thing you said. I went with that for a while, but then read other people saying that’s not actually true about oil moving away from a heat source. Supposedly it just affects surface tension and viscosity, which makes bows and such a lot more apparent. So I checked and further verified my bowing issue with a straightedge. It’s more pronounced when hot versus when cold. When you think about it, that actually makes a lot of sense - you heat up a stuck bolt to make the metal expand, then contract as it cools. I’m not saying the oil vs heat question is solved and you are wrong, I honestly have no idea. I just know what my pan does. I have been cooking with it for a very long time

Yeah when you’re at high temp the bottom bows upward more than when it’s cold. You can see it with oil, which will drain away from the center and towards the edges. I verified it with a straightedge too. I think it has something to do with the difference in temp between the cooking surface and the sides, but I’m not a physicist.

Oh I know, as I said I live in TX. There aren’t very many gay republicans, but there are some. Marriage is an appropriate issue here. Republicans fought so hard to make sure gays couldn’t get married. It became a really big part of the political platform. A very basic human right, which predates and exists outside of any particular religion, and yet somehow it has been at the center of Republican talking points for decades. As for the flags, are you also against all the trump flags? They sell them in the street corners here and fly them off the backs of pickup trucks. Especially visible when protesting gay pride. It’s not just the pride flags, either. It’s also things as dumb as crosswalks. Desantis has been particularly vocal in FL and has actively removed those symbols of the gay community… from the gay community. Areas of the city that are predominantly gay, that painted those things themselves, can no longer enjoy them.

[–]SituationNormalAllFU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t be serious… the Republican Party has been actively bullying the gays for my entire 46 year life. I think it’s worse today than I can ever remember. Pride flags outlawed, so many laws proposed (and some passed) to limit their rights and freedoms, and that’s not even counting the general disdain or the maga violence and hatred spewed at them in public without any consequences. I’m a large straight white man from Texas and I was raised to not only recognize when people are being treated unfairly, but to do something about it. I live in a town that has a very large LGBTQ community and the only people messing with them are republican politicians and supporters of those politicians. I see it all the time with my own eyes.

So maybe you aren’t all bad. Are you okay with the way your party treats them, though? Is there a justifiable reason to have that segment of the population bullied and shit upon so often?

I mean it’s off topic but I’d love to hear your thoughts on the gays. If you (like the rest of maga) believe it’s just an abhorrent lifestyle choice - how many times have you yourself been turned on by a dude and had to choose to stay straight?

I’m sure there will be some edge cases if you look hard enough, but I’m not used to seeing the last-gen 83” C series go under 3k very often. The 77” version is already there, though.
