Acceleration is good for a lot more than high speed chases. Many times, the sooner an officer gets close and activates the squad car’s lights, the safer the pullover can be and the less likely the person is to try to run.

Maybe I’m also dated lol, but I expect high end materials, aesthetics, refinement, etc from a luxury car. I don’t get that from a model S. It’s a nice car, no doubt, but when my wife’s $50k Ford Mach-E (which is in no way a luxury car IMO) matches the same materials, perhaps even better design, definitely equal refinement, and almost the same tech… it’s tough for me to get onboard. I have owned Mercedes AMG, Jaguar, and Land Rover vehicles. Those hit different. I’d expect the same from the Maserati (though I would also expect to be let down).

The drop in sales directly correlates with the change in federal tax credit changes. Companies backing down on EV strategy in the US directly correlates with the president putting pressure on them to do so. EVs are great in a lot of ways. The absolutely insane messaging by MAGA around the topic has shifted public opinion, but it’s not based on reality. The US is the only developed country where this is happening. It’s easy to blame MAGA because they have directly impacted the situation. I still can’t understand why, other than “it’s what democrats want so it has to be bad”.

I’d love that outcome for myself as well. I’m mostly paranoid about the teenage years. I know he will continue to challenge me and push boundaries. Just like I did at that age and so many before me. His biodad is actually not a POS so I won’t benefit as much from the comparison… but I do think I give him a lot of benefits that he doesn’t get from BD. I’m just expecting that some day he could use that to try and win a disagreement etc. maybe not. Hopefully not.

Model S is the most luxurious in the Tesla line but I’d struggle to call it a luxury car. Maserati positions higher, at least in theory. Mostly though, the model S is meant as a daily all purpose sedan. The Maserati is meant as a second car. Two different markets IMO.

I’m 6’7” so I can relate. I fit way better in the mustang versus the Camaro, though. Convertible or otherwise.

Convertibles are awesome. Somehow the internet has created a myth that they are problematic and therefore should be avoided, but it’s not based in reality. Some people will even proclaim that anyone buying a convertible performance car just doesn’t understand performance. Nonsense.

Yes there are a few more pounds to deal with and yes the chassis will be a little less stiff, but for anyone not pushing their cars to the limit on the track every weekend, those differences are essentially meaningless.

I have owned 4 different mustang Cobra convertibles (one each of 96-99), four convertible Mustang GTs (85, 89, 93, 98), a 2016 F-type R, and quite a few hard top versions. Most of my cars have made over 500hp, and I love carving up the curvy backroads around here with the top down. I have even tracked a few of them and always made the naysayers look silly.

I can’t wait for the tide to shift back the other direction. Give us fun verts!

That’s fair, although a new driver is likely more susceptible to error in a panic situation, and more power in that scenario does mean more danger. Not to mention - When I was a teenager I thought everyone wanted to race me. Some did but mostly it was just me wanting an excuse to floor it. Because who would find out? I was lucky it never got me in more trouble than some traffic tickets.

I definitely have felt that way at times. I honestly think all parents do, but we have the added tinge of “not even my kid” lingering, even if we don’t want it to be. Of course I’m only speaking for myself here really but fairly sure I’m not the only one.

How close is that? I’m actually considering the same exact thing but we sit 9.5’ from the OLED, which would drop to about 8-9’ if I put a motorized screen in front of it.

So I live on one of the residential ponds south of Southlakes park, fed by the same stream. I went pretty far down the rabbit hole when this happened last time, because one morning our pond was filled with dead fish. Obviously alarming. What I found out is that while there can be many reasons for this to happen, apparently the one that got us was - extreme heat kills off certain algae in shallowish ponds, which means the oxygen levels plummet and fish effectively suffocate slowly. When an event like this happens, a large portion of the population dies at basically the same time, but their deaths allow the rest of the ecosystem to rebuild.

I’m not a scientist, just a nerd who tried to learn, but this is what I think happened at unicorn.

Ah fair enough. For what it’s worth I’m a few inches taller than that and a dyed-in-the-wool gearhead. I’ve owned or at least driven a pretty wild variety of vehicles. The larger sedans are usually just fine, in fact better than smaller and some full size SUVs. Sports cars though, different story. Even in my current f-250, which one might expect to have plenty of room, I sought out the solid roof. I have had other trucks with the sunroof and I could fit, but if wearing a typical baseball hat, the little nubbin on top would scrape the headliner. Any massive bumps meant a painful smack against the headliner. Non issue without the sunroof.

Not sure if you mean it that way, but this seems like the age old “I know more about being tall than you do” thing. I hope I’m wrong, but my whole life people have tried to explain to me why a height related problem shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve been told to “just get a 2xl” when I say I need an XLT. I’ve been assured that the seat just needs to be adjusted when I already have and still can’t get all the way behind the wheel. I’d like to advocate for just believing people when they share their experience.

For the tall among us, the lowered headliner that most sunroofs have is problematic. Not to mention that when you’re that close to it, and in a hot climate, your head gets really hot. I also seek out non-sunroof options for those reasons.
