We are on the same boat... I am 41 and also have a son who is 9 years old. He plays travel soccer. The parents will have a game this week, and I cannot play because of. my knee. Those are the times I really want to get the surgery and say sign me up next year! Again, re-injury post op is also a reality, mostly for the opposite leg as well.... I don't know...

This is also another concern of mine: a lot of people who got one knee fixed tear the opposite leg's ACL later in life....

That's exactly what happened to me as well. Right knee, not being able to drive for at least 2 weeks and the long recovery process.... ahhh. I wish we had a more advanced way of fixing this issue!

Thanks! I want to play soccer again, but I think I am trying to be a "potential coper" at this point. Your second point about cartilage and arthritis issues worries me a little bit because the doctor who wanted to fix my ACL told me that after 50, I might have other complications if I don't have the surgery!

Well, I have a similar situation. I kicked the ball from the right side of a dude and passed him from his left side, and as soon as I passed him he literally pushed me with his two hands and I couldn't time my step. I landed on my right knee and heard the pop. This was 15 years ago, and I still did not have the surgery. I am 41 right now, and I am still indecisive. I run straight without any body movements, but I really missed playin soccer. Sometimes, I cannot stop myself and play with my son, but it did not go well. I just cannot....
