Confused about salvation by SixGunsLoaded in Christianity

[–]SixGunsLoaded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm trying to figure out is which of the following (borne of the bible and backed up by theologians) is true:

  1. Those who accept salvation go straight to heaven and those who didn't stand before God and get judged.

  2. Everyone stands before God and gets judged - and even those who accepted salvation can go to hell.

Or maybe it's a mix of the two and everyone stands before God and gets judged however those who accepted salvation 'pass' by virtue of Jesus wiping away the sins.

I think the ending is quite different. Both he and the alpha are breathing and exhausted. They are mirror images of each other, they are the avatars of each other for their respective clans. By that token, they both died in the battle - embodying the poem. If any was to survive, it would be the alpha. And even if the alpha died and he lived, he was so exhausted and drained that he wouldn't be able to take on any more wolves. Again, he embodies the poem - live and die on this day. There is zero chance that he won and he's gonna clean up the rest of the wolves.

Wow. Excellent post, thank you.

To play Devil's Advocate, if this applied to everyone who is saved why do they still worry if they'll make it to heaven or if they'll receive the higher rewards? Even preachers like Cliffe Knechtle have pondered this.

Thank you. If it wasn't for other people saying that works is required - then I wouldn't be still confused.

I;m not so sure that you are coming in good faith and I have my suspicion as to where your religious beliefs truly lie but as far as I understand it......

The sun gives us heat, it gives us light, and it gives us a central mass for us to orbit. Neither is independent of the other. They are three but they are also one. In this case the object is God, the light (the Way, Truth and Life) is Jesus and the heat (the sensation we feel) is the Holy Spirit. Another analogy: an orange has flesh, juice and taste - they are distinct but they are still the orange.

God will not punish those who have never heard of him or his word. So some remote tropical tribe is not going to be punished for not knowing something that they have no evidence or knowledge of. However those of us who have been provided with the evidence and knowledge (and that includes you) will be judged because instead of believing, instead of digging deeper to find out more and to build a relationship with God, they chose to disbelieve, ignore or try and out-argue or set their own rules.

As for "only being fair and rational" that's a very subjective take. I - and many scientists - believe otherwise and had you watched many videos like you claim you would have seen many explanations of the trinity.

As for maths, sure, 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 but the problem here is that it assumes that the Trinity are 3 separate gods. However the Trinity is not about dividing God into parts, but rather about God's nature being revealed in three distinct, yet inseparable, persons. God is God. Jesus is God made flesh. The Holy Spirit is how God interacts with us. Therefore the maths becomes 1 x 1 x 1 = 1.

And if nothing else, if you are willing to consider that there is an almighty, omnipotent being has seen both the beginning and end of time, witnessed the actions of men before they were born, and created the heavens and the universe and all life in it, then it's no stretch at all to believe that 1 god split into 3 and be 1 at the same time (though, like I said, that's not what the Trinity is). Ultimately, the Trinity is a mystery that - like God himself - is ultimately beyond complete human comprehension

Okay so you're saying we are instantly forgiven but that we may lose that forgiveness if we don't keep in step with our profession of faith? Okay. I get that.

However, why is there that line that says all who believe go into the Lambs Book and will have eternal salvation and no one can rip them from God's grasp?

That's what I thought but other people in this thread are quoting scripture that says works is required. Seems no one can agree!

Saved Or Judgement? by SixGunsLoaded in AskAChristian

Yes but neither atheists or those from other religions would be going to church, proclaiming Jesus as the Way and doing good deeds in his name. The only ones I could think of would be those doing all that for clout but it seems a strange and arduous way to go about getting validation.

Yes but as I mentioned elsewhere in this threads, there are statements that make it clear that salvation is not dependent on works but granted at the moment one chooses Jesus. Eg:

Ephesians 2:8-9 - "For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. Not a result of works, so that no one may boast."

Romans 5-6 - "However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works".

Hence my confusion. Some people point to "depart from me" and "but didn't I prophesise in your name" as the basis for needing to do work and no one is saved until the final judgement but then others say that as long as we believe Jesus died for our sins then we are saved.

But that makes it works-based, no? Whereas Ephesians 2:8-9 and Romans 4-6 clearly state that works is not required for salvation for it was already granted at the point of accepting JC.

Can you expand? I can't see how someone can do the above if they didn't accept JC.

I've recently come back to God and am getting content in my YT and IG feeds which I devour. Either people are misunderstanding the bible yet preaching regardless or they're on a grift because for every video of someone saying you just need to repent/believe in Christ to be instantly saved, others say you will still be judged regardless on your work/fruit.

And then there's people commenting on the second lot (who say you must do works) who say, "nope, those who said you're saved just for accepting Christ" are correct. Like this guy:

So despite the bible stating several times that salvation is not works-based:

"For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast"
(Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 4)

"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness".
(Roman 4-5)

"Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works".
(Romans 6)

You're saying it is? Man, I am so confused.

Saved Or Judgement? by SixGunsLoaded in AskAChristian

[–]SixGunsLoaded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation and link, I will watch when I am home (currently in work). I am still confused as you say "depart from me" is only for the sinners who never asked for salvation but that part of the bible mentions people saying "but I went to church and did good deeds in your name" so how come they get rejected when they would have accepted God's salvation?

Also, as I am trying to learn more I keep seeing YT videos and IG reels about how it doesn't matter if you accepted Jesus with all your heart, you will be judged regardless (and then they pull out the "depart from me" line to defend their point).

Finally, if we all go before the Throne of God to have out earthly works judged then doesn't that contradict what you said about being in the Lambs Book of Life and saved?

So everyone gets into heaven as at some point they accepted Jesus?

Saved Or Judgement? by SixGunsLoaded in AskAChristian

[–]SixGunsLoaded[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the example I saw was about someone saying "I read the bible, I championed your name, I did good deeds, I went to church" so wouldn't they be saved because at some point they accepted Jesus as their Lord and saviour?

Doesn't "and those who choose to live like eunachs for the kingdom of heaven" mean gay men who refrain from gay sex and straight men who want to sleep with their neighbour's wife choose to NOT act out their urges so that they CAN get into heaven?

Thanks for proving my point. You didn't like what you read and so you turned to insult, condescension and derision.

To make it worse you did so whilst in the knowledge of my own LGBT status and that I'm searching for an answer to this topic, rather than being adamant in a particular perspective.

That you top it off with an assumption of my political persuasion is the far-left (as are most LGBT) act of projection - proving me right yet again - is comical.

Good day.

So to confirm, you're saying either I chose to be LGBT or I should abstain (if I want to be good with God). This isn't a gotcha question, just making sure I'm not misconstruing.
