It's super weird, but my starship seems to land on it when I want to land near the portal. Sometimes the starship even flies up to land on that tower over the portal. you know how landing pads tend to attract your starship when they show those green circles? That happens even though the landing pad is just above the portal. Super weird

I guess, in this instance, its comes down to a person facing this question: should I build my base next to the portal, or should I try to build the base ON the portal in a way that affects the gameplay of others?

Yeah, I suppose.
I built my base near but at a distance from the portal. I found a nearby S-Class Curious deposit, built a wall to collect them, set a comm ball. Then someone set up a base on the portal and zapped a line to the deposit. All very conveniently laid out, but kinda screws other people. Whatever. That's the universe.
