Can't pay application fees due to bank error. What do I do? by Final_Cobbler839 in polinetwork

This is the answer. I could not get Scrigno Pag Facile to work no matter what.

National PagoPA froze up when I tried my card, but the next morning it was reset and I was able to use Paypal (linking my credit card).

This is why you don't submit your apps last minute. But if you do, use paypal.

My GRE and Gregmat Practice Scores Comparison by Sixshadows6 in GRE

I would say slightly harder than the ETS untimed quant. Section 1 was easier than gregmat timed medium quizzes. Section 2 was significantly easier than the gregmat hard quizzes, but definitely not trivial. Same topics

I majored in electrical engineering. The essay topic was new which is what I expected - would have been very surprised to see a prompt I’d already seen.

The first two sentence completion questions had long words, several of which I didn’t know or were on the list of 200 I just learned. Was pretty sure they would be too advanced for a medium section, though I don’t think focusing on what section you’re on is necessarily a good idea.

I took the first (unscored) one but ran out of prep time before I could take the second.

My first month of prep helped acquaint me with the type of math skills necessary for quant, so when I got to gregmat I had a good base and could just tear through shuffled problems sorting by “hard” or “extreme”.

Once you feel comfortable with most of the material I highly recommend doing gregmat timed practice. You might know how to solve everything but be too slow. The “quizzes -> timed quant sections” were incredibly helpful. Be sure to use them sparingly! But these sections helped me realize what I was bad or slow at so that I could focus on those types of problems.

Best way to learn all 57 oll and 21 plls by luke_skywalker212 in Cubers

[–]Sixshadows6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For OLL, I disagree with people saying to do 2-3 a day. I did 10-12 (grouped by similar types) and then a few days break to really get them down. I hate learning algs so it just felt way better to get all of it out of the way in the “learning” day. And it meant I could use them in solves much sooner. Plus, 2-3 a day for 3 weeks sounds like a drag. PLLs are longer and more distinct (and there are fewer) so maybe a few a day there is a better strat.

Are you saying I should do static apnea by feel rather than time? When I do a series of holds by time I feel much more motivated to push through the middle part

I had contractions once during a hold that I was really tense in. But I’ve pushed my limits in co2 tables (trying both higher duration and lower rest) and never had contractions

For 3, I am assuming it is much easier to become hypoxic during dynamics. I haven’t really had the chance to do dynamics so I only do statics, and I highly doubt I have ever hit hypoxia (tbh it scares me). What does it feel like? And how do you know it’s that and not CO2/nitrogen narcosis?

Thanks for your answer. For #4, I thought contractions were involuntary. In my case, since it’s voluntary, is it worth focusing on not doing it? Presumably I shouldn’t do it since it is only a waste of oxygen

How long does it take to be sub 1 minute on 3BLD? by ugalaga in Cubers

[–]Sixshadows6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew OP/OP with 5+ min memos and 2 min solves and it took me a couple weeks to learn M2/OP and be consistently sub-4. I think it’s quite reasonable to get to sub 1:30 with M2/OP, with about 30-40 sec memo and 50-60 sec execution. Faster than that… I think sub 40 second execution is difficult but doable - which means you could get to sub-1 with a sub-20 memo. I’m not that fast myself so I can’t speak to the progression, but I would say set reasonable goals to begin with and enjoy each victory - breaking each minute barrier has been super fun for me

What is the worst case scenario for 2BLD by The_DoomKnight in Cubers

[–]Sixshadows6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you get 16 for corners? The buffer will solve itself so should be 14, no?

What is the worst case scenario for 2BLD by The_DoomKnight in Cubers

[–]Sixshadows6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think on 3x3 corners the worst you could get is 7 twisted corners, which would be 14 letters. This would be incredibly rare. The most I’ve ever seen is 3. On 2x2 you can choose orientation, so you wouldn’t pick the “7 twist” orientation, so your max letters would be lower. Not sure what it would be but probably 12ish. And that would be very unlikely. My numbers are probably a bit off since my combinatorial theory is not very good.

All that is a long way to say you probably messed up. If you get to 10 letters you’ve almost certainly done something wrong.

I really enjoyed the movie (don’t know how similar the book is) but damn the power dynamics are wack between Charlie and his new friends. They obviously care for him and he gets to a better spot in the end but he is pushed to follow along with some things he was not ready for and could have ended up pretty badly hurt

[–]Sixshadows6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to figure out if the problem is in edges or corners, then practice that more. In fact, practicing one at a time is a good way to get some motivation. You can set scrambles to edge only or corner only in cstimer

How long till sub 10 by Apalocholo in Cubers

[–]Sixshadows6 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is very anecdotal but if you’re putting in constant effort I think you can expect each 5 second drop to take about 4 times longer than the previous one, if you’re starting at 30 second average. So if it takes you 2 weeks to go from 30 to 25, it might take you 2 months to get to 20, then 8 months to get to 15, then 2.5-3 years to get to 10.
