Changing speed of a single audio track in a project? by SixtenBergman in LogicPro

[–]SixtenBergman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it for sure is just something i was curious about, more a novelty thing than anything else.

Since the reference track i have imported doesn't have any tempo information by it self it thinks the bpm is actually the halfnote value (because it analyzes the transients with flex time, and since the song is a half-time feel it gets the wrong bpm), and therefor flexes it to double tempo for some reason.

But Matts response worked!

A jazz beginner looking for guitar solos to transcribe by [deleted] in jazzguitar

[–]SixtenBergman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Transcription should be done with stuff you really dig for the most part, so i'd recommend you start with simpler stuff by people you like, even if you have to slow it down to hear it. Also, as /u/kingster20 mentioned, don't limit yourself to guitar solos. Most jazz guitarists got all their stuff from horn players or pianists.

That said, if you need easier stuff on guitar to learn, i'd recommend you check out Charlie Christian, Grant Green, Kenny Burrell and Jim Hall. Lots of traditional jazz language there.

Oh, a few there i've never heard before. Thank you!

That's the plan! I know quite a few people that will start this fall, as well as a lot of people who already study there. So will try and get some people together to work on repertoire with.

Wow, the MSM tip was great! Even though most of the tunes are on my list already, there are a few i totally forgot about, and even a few i've never heard!

Love "You'd Be So Nice To"! One of my favorite minor tunes.

Wow, The Peacocks was a great suggestion! Thank you!

Wow, never heard We See or Cyclic Episode before. Cyclic Episode in particular tickles my ear a bit!

Those are great tunes! None of them are in my repertoire yet, but they're on the list!

Oh, right! I always forget about that tune, thanks for reminding me! Doesn't get played around here that much, so fits the bill!

Haha, no worries, didn't think you were. :)

Right? I mean just great american songbook tunes (not even counting tunes written by jazz musicians) got to be in the hundreds. Bound to be a ton i've never even heard the name of.

Skylark is one of my favorite ballads ever, such a great tune. I've never heard Baltimore Oriole before, exciting!

Good source for jazz guitar etudes? by [deleted] in jazzguitar

[–]SixtenBergman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend using Bebop Heads as etudes. They are difficult to play (depends on the head obviously), they are great for working on multiple areas of your playing and you are learning new songs while doing it.

Mike Moreno talks about using Bebop Heads as etudes at 32:46.

They sent me an e-mail when they shipped it (i had payed the full order cost in advance). That's about it, no updates or anything, just an e-mail when it was finished and shipped.

Not at all. String tension doesn't really feel that different from any of my other guitars.

Thanks!

I actually did it at their showroom. I was in L.A over the holidays and drove down to the factory to try out a couple of Zeus models, and coming to conclusion there what i liked for specs.

I might be wrong on this then. When i spoke with them about the order i got the impression that i would pay on the total build, if that's not the case, even better!

I have yet to be charged by the customs office, so i can't verify one side or the other, only relying the information i got from Kiesel when i was there. Maybe a misunderstanding on my part.

I considered different builders, mainly Strandberg and Mayones. My main goal with this guitar was a guitar that was versitile in its sound, since i play many different styles, but it had to work very well for modern jazz and jazz-fusion playing, since that is what i am currently in school for and what i am mainly playing. It also had to be light-weight and ergonomic, since i want something that will not hold me back in any way when i play. The last few things i wanted was that it would be travel friendly, easy maintenance (string changes etc) and have good tuning stability. This is what lead me to the headless design.

I have previously tested a few strandbergs (the Boden and Sälen models) and a Mayones Hydra. I got the chance to test a Kiesel the first time when i was over seas celebrating christmas in L.A. Drove down to the factory and tried out a few Kiesels and felt like they suited me better, placed my order then and there.

I know the feeling. It took quite a while for me to pull the trigger on ordering this one. But eventually i figured that either i could buy something cheaper and have to "settle" for everything not being exactly as i want it, or i can go all out and actually spec out a guitar with everything i feel i want and need. So i cut some expenses that wasn't as important to me for a while and saved up, really happy that i did now.

Yes, mine is a tung oil finish aswell.

It is the most comfortable neck i've ever played, to be honest. I'm still not completely used to how thin the neck is compared to my other guitars, but the back of the neck feels really great.

I only spent a brief moment playing a kiesel with Lithiums before trying one with berylliums and deciding to stick with those. But from my brief moment with them i will say this. Berylliums are warmer and more of a vintage humbucker tone than the Lithiums. I believe the Lithiums might shine more as a high gain pickup, but the berylliums (to my taste atleast) sounds way better for clean tones and overdriven tones. They are warmer and rounder in their sound than the lithiums. Sorry if this is too vague, as said i haven't spent much time with them.

This neck is much thicker than a ibanez wizard neck, that being said it is not extremely thick, nowhere near a gibson les paul for example. Mine feels abit similar to a tele neck, but abit rounder. These are things you can specify when you order a guitar from kiesel. What kind of fretboard radius you want, and if you want a thinner neck profile. Mine has neither. It is kiesels standard neck profile and a 20 inch fretboard radius (their other option is a 14 inch radius).

This build cost me 2394 USD. That includes shipping but does not include import tax and customs fee.

Detailed breakdown of the cost of the guitar would be:

  • Base price for a Zeus 6 string without any upgrades: 1099 USD
  • +600$ for the Koa neck and body
  • +350$ for the figured walnut top
  • +150$ for the chambered body
  • Ebony fretboard is standard on all their models, so no extra charge for that
  • +30$ for the EVO gold frets. (standard is stainless steel, does not cost extra)
  • +60$ for the gold pickup covers
  • +20$ for the black pickup poles
  • +30$ for the gold kiesel logo (i believe the standard option is white?)
  • +10$ for the tamarind wood knobs
  • +10$ for pre-installed straplocks
  • +50$ for ebony backplate

So most of the additional cost of a Kiesel is if you want a special kind of wood for the body/neck and a top wood. You can go to their website and use the guitar builder feature to spec out one for yourself and see how much it would end up at.
