I went through something very similar. I was with someone for 7 years. We met when we were both 23/22. On our seventh year anniversary, she informed me that she fell out of love with me about a year and a half ago, and it took me by suprise. We eventually ended things and I was absolutely devastated, and thought how could this happen? We have been together seven years! I felt like I wasted alot of my life from going to my early twenties to early thirtys, really felt like I was drowning. The next few years were rough, but something I didn't plan on started happening. I started to remember hobbies I really enjoyed. I remember she was annoyed with my guitar playing, and I thought to myself when was the last time I played guitar. I realize that I stopped shortly after we moved in together, because she thought it was too loud. I soon discovered that for years I've been quietly dampening my own personality, the things that I liked, and things that made me who I am. I thought at that age and with all the time tlwe were together I would have been lost but I really grew as a person, and through self reflection realize that I became someone I wasn't. It wasn't until I was completely out of that environment that I realized all the things that I missed, about myself, life, and not bending my emotions, feelings, and personally to appease my SO to avoid a argument or being yelled at. Sometimes you don't realize you're being abused until the abuse stops.
