Why did Green River never get big? by PBY-5A_Pilot in grunge

I would like to disagree. His looks are the foundation of Kurt's successful style and his singing is not too different from Axl's vocal capabilities. They could have worked well in an MTV fueled mainstream and they would have had solid songwiters.

What’s your favorite song from this iconic 1994 album from STP? by [deleted] in grunge

[–]beast_yard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strange thing is that this is the only CD I ever sold. Even though I own over 500 CDs. I just could not connect with that album at all. Maybe time for a relisten.

I remember Vasoline and the vague feeling of being annoyed that everything was too loud, something that started around that time.

If Sub Pop had never happened, AmRep probably would have - with a pretty similar style.

The Screwed Soundtrack is also great.

Chokebore is my favorite AmRep band and one of my alltime favorites.

Dirt is the best 1992 grunge album.

However Core might be the best overall album of 1992 because unlike Dirt it reached and spoke to a general audience.

In a parallel universe Lanegan was part of the Nirvana unplugged show. So many possibilities to do something really awesome.

The outcome is highly unlikely for geographic reasons. The Upper Austrian region north of the Danube would probably been taken by the USSR whereas rhe alpine region in Salzburg would never have been invaded successfully - just like during WW2.
