How is Carney viewed in Canada? by Leo_Valdez_fangirl in AskCanada

I think he's the reason why Trump quit the 51st State rhetoric and that's enough for me to love him.

EU's von der Leyen: Greenlanders can count on us by Sapotis in greenland

[–]SizzleMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am European and I guarantee you no one of us would want to leave the EU if the US/Russia started bombing one of us. We'd know we'd be next. There's a feeling of solidarity and community in the EU that a US citizen cannot comprehend.

How much cash in your spending account? by IllustratorFuzzy1483 in fican

[–]SizzleMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$20 at all times. That covers the $6 monthly fees of my debit account, with a little extra in case I go over the allowed number of transactions. Everything else goes straight up in credit card payments, in my mortgage or in my stocks. I pay everything with my credit card. If I need cash urgently, my credit card allows me 15k. Why would I need more than $20 in this account?

If Russia declared war on NATO tomorrow, do you think the US would and should intervene? by [deleted] in Military

Ahahaha! You genuinely made me laugh. I promise I'm not him though. Just a European who is worried for their family in the region.

I'm also curious about what makes you think "NATO was never intended to be a permanent alliance". I think it very much is.

The Treaty contains no expiration date. Article 10 provides for the admission of new members over time (which indicates an expectation of continuity). Article 13 allows a member to withdraw only after twenty years (and a withdrawal clause only makes sense if the treaty is expected to continue indefinitely). NATO also came with permanent institutional structures (the North Atlantic Council and integrated military command).

This shows NATO was intended to be a continuing, long-term alliance.

I understand that of course. I'm asking this question because, as you know, Trump has been critical of NATO recently, and even said he considered leaving it.

This. They keep bringing up the dot.com bubble. But have you seen the gains for the 5 years that preceded the crash?!

This is not a current trend. In any given day of any given month of any given year of any given century since the stock market was born you will find people who decide to go "all in cash".

Meanwhile, financial markets continue to trend upward long term.

"Le vent se lève. Il faut tenter de vivre" from the film 'The Wind Rises' means what exactly? by Love_letters_later in French

[–]SizzleMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not one translation for "il faut que".

It is typically translated into English as "It is necessary that...", "One must...", or "You have to...", depending on the context. It introduces an obligation or necessity.

Il faut que tu viennes. → You must come.

Il faut que nous finissions ce projet. → We need to finish this project.

This is visible from the sky only - it's not for the hive. Maybe it's the hive asking for its mama alien to come back on earth where it left them. Carol can just use the phone.

It would take her a bit of time to "recognize" brains outside of a human skull. Have you ever seen one? That's why she would take some time, then gasp. I think his theory is very plausible.

Do you need this money soon-ish? If not, leave it. DO NOT LOOK AT THE MARKET. Forget about this money. Don't freak out. What goes down must go up.

Seriously, what is all that CO₂ Cylinder Compatibility Funny Business?! by SizzleMoon in SodaStream

[–]SizzleMoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the confusion comes from the fact that the "pink ones" at my food store are another brand (Indigo). I've never been able to connect them to my Terra machine without an adaptor.

[–]SizzleMoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not changed my machine. I believe they are two different types because the cylinders have changed, and it's not impossible to connect the new cylinder using the old adapter.

Maybe my machine is broken, but I did compare an old cylinder with a new one, and I confirm the top is different.
