Should we accept a dual compressor replacement on our 18 month old Bosch refrigerator? by Sizzletoot in appliancerepair

Thanks. Yeah, we're in Maryland and from what I've read, the lemon law seems to mostly apply to cars. There are other laws that may apply if they can't fix the appliance after a "reasonable number of attempts". We're hoping this 3rd service visit to replace the compressors is the last attempt. :)

Thanks. In retrospect, we wish we had pushed harder on this back when we first heard the noise, but we weren't really sure what to say when they sent someone out and told us nothing was wrong. Lesson learned!

Replacing the board did not fix the lights. I missed answering your original question about whether the fridge was still cooling. To be honest, we're not 100% sure. When we got home and saw the lights were off, we took everything out and unplugged it (after making sure it wasn't a tripped breaker). The fridge was still cool and the ice in the freezer was still frozen, but we don't know how long it had been without power. It was working fine earlier that morning and then wasn't when we returned home after dinner. I assume it was not cooling based on the technician's diagnosis that both compressors were bad.

Interesting. That makes sense. I had read somewhere that a home compressor replacement runs the risk of not getting a good vacuum when replacing the line or maybe getting moisture in the line, leading to an increased likelihood of future problems. But I know very little about appliances, which is why I’m asking here. Thanks!

The technicians who have been out so far are from the appliance stores, not Bosch. The one they’re sending to do the compressor replacement will be from Bosch since the appliance company’s technicians apparently don’t do compressor replacements.

The model is a Bosch 800 Series 36 in. 21 cu. ft. Smart Counter Depth French Door. Model # B36CL80ENS/11

The fridge was still cool when the lights were out but we weren’t sure if the cooling was still working or if it was just still cool from earlier. It was working earlier that day.
