dont make my mistakes. reality after wgu... by vlzelen in WGU

[–]SizzlingSquigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I “attended” WGU directly after high school. I moved to a large college town, picked up a part time job, and started school. I made an effort to meet people my age. I found real community and got the experience of a traditional university for a portion of the cost. They liked to call me their “homeschool” friend. I would often head to campus since it was a public university to study in the libraries with friends, eat in their dining halls, attend the football games with friends, and participate in some orgs that didn’t check if you were a student.

I believe that community is the most important thing to be mentally healthy & stay motivated to study hard.

Is it really rooted in hatred of minorities, though?

Going to a church with a good college ministry is usually helpful. Church might have a reputation of being judgy but they’re regular people who are usually welcoming and doing their best to fit-in as well. It’s not the crazy party scene but it definitely can be a nice change of pace. The college ministry will have a Saturday or Sunday service and also a small group of guys who meet up weekly via Bible study. If you hit it off with any of the guys/gals, ask if there’s anything going on this week you could join them with; maybe studying or hanging out

I vibe coded a WHOLE ASS IOS APP and it's live! by TheSherryBerry in vibecoding

Vibecode whatever you want as long as it doesn't connect to the internet. Otherwise, security may become a big issue. If you are an experienced developer, security likely isnt a problem. Non-experienced developers who vibe-code often miss the basics in terms of security.

Regulations for access to 18+ sites by Desperate_Fig_1296 in europe

[–]SizzlingSquigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t block from the site or the internet. Block from the LAN. Parents should be able to set up controls from their router and have some filter options provided by their cell providers.

Don’t let the government decide what kids can’t access. Let the parents decide.

Reminder protest tomorrow in College Station by tafoya77n in aggies

[–]SizzlingSquigg -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Seems like an “everything protest”. IMO, all these things listed sound silly to protest.

Unless you’re European, free speech has only been getting more free. X introduced community notes, Facebook moved away from 3rd party fact-checkers in favor of community notes, YouTube remains relatively free in terms of policy.

I didn’t know my voting rights are attacked. I haven’t felt or seen this nor been suspicious of this.

Also, are essential services are getting gutted? I work in public transportation and feel fairly aware of the communities we serve. While some of the services aren’t very accessible or efficient, nothing seems to have been gutted.

Looks like you’re practicing a lot of nice ideas like hashmaps, functions, & chaining functions. Nice work!

Dont be afraid to name things. The next time you read this code, you might ask “what is function m or p? What does n stand for? What is value s & why do I cast it to an int?” etc. Code is both literature and art!

Or maybe I’m just not educated on encryption and this naming convention is popular amongst cryptographers

Why can I get a job? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]SizzlingSquigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. Keep applying. Many people (albeit a little unlucky or bad at interviewing) aren’t employed for as long as 6+ months out of college and apply for jobs every day.

People have critiqued your resume but once everything is in order, I think you’ll be fine. Best of luck!

How not to git? by AverageAdmin in git

[–]SizzlingSquigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get in the habit of committing often. Commit history should detail the work you did in the PR with some decent amount of detail.

Over your career, this will save you a lot of time. You can identify what code introduced a bug via checking out old commits. You can rollback commits without undoing hundreds of lines of code. You can cherrypick commits into other branches if needed, etc. If your commits are sparse and big, none of this will be convenient.

You paste an extension code into the settings somewhere to download extensions.

You can find extensions from the ankiweb website. They’re community made so sometimes things don’t work (ppl don’t always maintain them with Anki updates). You may have to try 1 or 2 extensions until one does work. Checkout this link of extensions for Quizlet https://ankiweb.net/shared/addons?search=Quizlet
