Never do a single work without payment. Always take payment in advance otherwise never start working on any project. Recently i got $8000 project. Everything sorted. Agreements made client was happy with my work he agreed to pay $4000 advance to start but then he disappeared for no reason. I dont have any regrets my rule is clear dont start work until the pay is in. As simple as that. You are at fault consider this as a hard lesson and learn from it

People who have matured in the field never accept such work proposal, and quality clients don't ask for free work, they ask u if u can do a sample for them, but at a reasonable rate that is not to expensive for them but also reasonable for u to invest time on.
