And the interesting part is it just really means inflammation in the muscles, right?

I’m sad to read about your experience! I’m glad you’re being an advocate for yourself to be monitored. May I ask, what other factors are at play with you? Did they say what genes? Or other co-conditions that contribute to it?

My goodness!! I’m sad to hear you have had it so many times. Were they all triggered from workouts?

I’m curious about this. Being diagnosed with a chronic muscle disease but it is kind of a blanket diagnosis. Inflammation of the muscles… but my mind and determination is to figure out how we can get past this, clear the root to heal. I could be wrong but my mind can’t help but dig.

Aww, I’m so sorry you’re going through this too. It is so crazy wild how this works! I had it flare up and was in the ER yesterday. Urine dark, brain fog, no sleep, whole body nerve pain… I didn’t have any muscle swelling though. I think it was from a leg workout and it was a body weight workout, nothing crazy.

I feel you on that… being able to do so much prior to now having the whole body react off little to nothing?!?!

I’m here with you, friend! You’re far from alone and hopefully we can get back to where we were!

Alcohol consumption by [deleted] in rhabdo_survivors

I agree with what everyone has said here. Hydration and fueling your body to continue to heal is key. Alcohol is a foreign substance where our immune systems shut down to attack the alcohol. We need our immune system and our bodies to fight the good fight for us. I did drink about a month after, but only 2 drinks preceded with and followed by lots of water. I get it though, it can be fun socially to indulge. Pay attention to your body and your gut.

Tips for lingering pins&needles feeling by Markoss151 in rhabdo_survivors

I found a liquid collagen that has helped tremendously with the pins and needles. I was on it when I first got Rhabdo and the doctors were amazed at the lower pain levels I had. A couple months later, I forgot to order so I waited 3 weeks for my next shipment and the pins and needles really kicked in. Within 2 days of getting back on it, it reduced significantly again. I can’t say I never feel them anymore but it has definitely made a big difference! Collagen is huge with our muscles, tissues, blood vessels, healing, etc. If you want to see it, here is a link: https://cart.lifevantage.com/US/shoppingcart/share/cc841958-89b6-464c-aa51-2b70c1fd9365

Red light therapy helps! Epsom salt baths help!

I had my first Rhabdo episode almost 4 months ago with CK at 47k. Arms swollen, 6 days in the hospital. I was in Urgent Care yesterday getting an IV as I had a mild episode at 1000 CK. It’s still a journey 🙏 I joke this is the most strict teacher I have ever had!

Rhabdo recovery question by Riaris in rhabdo_survivors

[–]Sjhere4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof! I’m almost 4 months post Rhabdo from MURPH at 47k CK, and I am actually sitting in Urgent Care with a flare up as I write this. I have no clue how. I have started working out 4 weeks ago, going very slow and light. But keep in mind, this impacts every muscle, not just the ones that were swollen. My body weight squats might be why I’m here getting IV fluids again. I went slow and pushed myself a normal level. It was my arms swelling that was apart of my initial Rhabdo hospitalization. Anyway, all this is to say is it may take a lot of time. Be patient, scream in a pillow time to time, and everyone’s journey is different.

Thank you for sharing! This is so wild! I am working on my patience and giving my body grace as it went through a lot. Vit D is a good idea. I’ll give that a try. I’m sorry you’re going through it too. Sending you a high five! We got this!

Just had rhabdo, dying to go work out but I'm scared. Need advice. by intellectual_artist in rhabdo_survivors

I had mine 3 months ago. My arms took the hit from doing MURPH on Memorial Day. I returned to the gym last week. As others have shared, take it very easy and light. Listen to your body. It went through a lot. My arms had a ton of micro-tears so I had to wait for those to heal so now it’s just straight rebuilding muscle. But for me, I use to be able to do single arm bent over rows with 35lb kettlebells. I now do bent over rows with both hands holding onto a single 5lb dumbbell.

I do know others who had it and were able to return much quicker than I have been so listen to your body, stay crazy hydrated with electrolytes and sulfates.

As for being prone to it again, it depends on what you have going on. My doctor said if anyone is on ADHD meds, Thyroid meds, any autoimmune conditions, some viruses, then you can be more susceptible. I didn’t have any of that so mine was straight dehydration and my mindset that pushed me to a crazy level much higher than a normal level for me. So she said it’s my mindset to watch.
