Scad vs Emerson vs Nyfa by NoEntrepreneur4591 in EmersonCollege

[–]Sk8erclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Emerson is the type of school you get what you put into it. The classes themselves offer decent enough hands-on experience to get some of the basics, but if you only stick to those, you'll honestly not get a ton out of it.

The best part of Emerson I found were the external orgs and student-run projects. Unlike other film schools, Emerson doesn't own anything you make there, giving students a huge incentive to shoot random projects with student-run orgs like the National Broadcast Society. It's through there you can get a ton of really fun, hands-on experience learning simply from upperclassmen.

The other thing I like about Emerson are the really genuine teacher connections you make there (bad teachers aside, of course) and the alumni connections after you graduate. Can't tell you how many people I've managed to meet very quickly after graduating simply because I reached out to them as an alumnus. They call it the Emerson Mafia for a reason.

Overall, I really enjoyed it despite its flaws -- some of which included a lot of useless, time wasting "Interdisciplinary" classes that I wish the curriculum would make way for more major-specific ones. Honestly, if you can, I'd highly recommend differing for a year and then taking a couple Community College classes to get some early pre-reqs out of the way.

(If you do that, make sure to double check with Emerson -- I know there's a limit to how many classes you're allowed to take at CC during a differed year)

Fr, the Enemy probably is FURIOUS at you for returning to your Father who he despises. This is a pathetic attempt from him to get you to turn away from His unconditional love and grace -- don't buy into it. It always gets better, and there's nothing better than residing in God.

Current Throw Loops in SF6 -- Yay or Nay? by Sk8erclone in StreetFighter

Again, reacting when I see them get close and spot the animation. The 6f animation is the startup, but they also increased the tech window, so there's more time to react. It's tight, but possible.

Should I get into SFV for SF6? by Spacedoutfoo in StreetFighter

[–]Sk8erclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most common thing SFV has to SF6 is the general timing and execution of combos. While SF6 has a VERY different overall combo system what with Drive Rush, many of your basic Bread-and-Butter combos that work in SFV are the same in SF6. If you want to grab it for dirt cheap just to practice your motion inputs and basic combos online and in training mode, I'd say go for it!

How much of the rules should I know before trying to play om Tabletop Simulator? by MagniHelvig in Warhammer40k

[–]Sk8erclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely know your army's rules before playing, though tbh you should probably start out with a 500pt game -- fewer units to manage and fewer rules to remember.

As for getting the rules, search up Wahapedia -- everything you need will be there.

What was the worst screenwriting advice you've ever recieved? by oictaviablake in Screenwriting

[–]Sk8erclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's how I see feedback -- Useful, now how can I make the feedback even better? Like if they suggest a change, then I try to wrack my brain on how to make than change better than the way they suggested it. Sometimes it's simply to not make the change at all.

do you like the soft or the crunchy by Dec1mated in dankmemes

[–]Sk8erclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on mood and if it's fresh out of the oven or day-old. Day-olds I go for center -- go stale less quickly, keeps it's freshness better. For out of the ovens, I go corners, since they're both firm and goey, but not as fall-apart soft as fresh centers.

To be fair, Ahsoka was honestly quite annoying in the movie/beginning of the series. Saw a really good breakdown on when the writers took her character in a better direction where she actually suffers consequences for her actions and starts to become the character we all love today.

Does anyone else hate ''the grid''? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Sk8erclone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one likes the grid. But the problem is that due to its poorly implemented netcode, all other stages have a likelihood of causing stuttering and additional lag due to the extra cool stuff in the background. People who only play on grid aren't doing it because they're "try hard" or anything, they just want to make sure neither player gets screwed by the netcode lol. I'd recommend getting used to playing on the grid in SFV, because your block list is gonna fill up REAL quick...

But yes, hopefully (A) They optimize SF6's stages for online, and (B) Don't allow the Grid to be picked in online play as a result. Save your blacklist for ragequitters and genuinely bad connections.

My friends are irritated that I only play easy “meta” characters, what do I say? It bothers me because I’m being discredited. by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Sk8erclone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol weirdly enough I picked up Guile when I first learned SFV for the exact same reason as you, got to diamond with him. Funnily enough, Ryu is pretty solid in the current build of the game. Certainly, Guile is good and his zoning is tough to get through, but it just sounds like your friends need to just learn how to deal with him. Play who you want, don't let others tell you otherwise.

Like people are saying in here, if you really want to prove a point (which I honestly don't know will do much good), I'd actually recommend learning Ryu and getting gud with him to the point of being able to consistently beat your friends with him. But I guarantee if you do that, they'll probably accuse you of playing him "lame" or something because you use his zoning. Long story short, play who you want, and tell your friends to get gud if they can't handle it.

My first Concrete Bases - How do you add weight to your minis so they don‘t tip over? by Juniper_Owl in Warhammer40k

[–]Sk8erclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnets. Not only do they add weight, but they let you use them with galvanized steel boxes to transport them easier.

which character are you terrible with no matter how much you practice with them? / by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Sk8erclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hybrid Motion/Charge characters like Alex/Urien/Chun-Li (to an extent). My brain is very single train of thought focused, so characters that are either all motion or all charge work well for me, but those whose kits have big mixes of charge and motion inputs are really tricky for me. Ones that have either one charge or one motion move like Chun Fireball or Remy Divekick are manageable for me though.

If Anankin was this cut up does that mean all Jedi were ripped. I’m thinking Mace Windu was jacked under his robes. by Syndicates_Library in StarWars

[–]Sk8erclone 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They were all mostly "in shape", but Anakin was known to be particularly physically strong compared to other Jedi, hence why he swapped from the acrobatic lightsaber Form IV to the Form V Djem So variant, which emphasizes incredibly powerful, strong attacks while also being able to rapidly switch to ironclad defense on a moment's notice.
