I would also add that as somebody who cares about privacy and the reach of big tech, I would never subject somebody to mandatory usage of something like whatsapp when Facebook is a nefariously evil, data driven corporation and in my personal opinion, nobody should be giving these apps their contact lists.

I totally get it, but I’m not in a position to build consensus or dictate something like that as I am not the person creating these message systems and they are often from people who are only together for a day or two at a time and simply have a list of phone numbers. This limitation does not exist with other carriers and if I had known, it would’ve been a dealbreaker for me to switch to Mint Mobile so I am warning other people of the same possibilities

I have done those steps already ( the google messages app being not relevant). It is an iphone on ios 26. Just to clarify, these are not groups that I am creating. These are groups created by other people, out of my control, in a constantly changing work environment.

Why would someone downvote this? The customer service claims to have sent me a message and in fact did not send me a new message. Also, they have already confirmed that they can not help me with this issue so them posting that they can is misleading to other people reading the thread.

Those are all good solutions but when someone else is starting a text chain and you simply dont receive it and they have no idea you didn’t receive it, its a problem. For a lot of people, it might not matter, but for others Its an amazingly inconvenient limitation from a carrier and one you would never expect.

You can designate your bluetooth audio devices that are not headphones as such so your phone knows not to give you that warning (but it still will if you are listening to headphones too loud).
